Discussion of Intersection at Seasons Four driveway and the Minuteman Bikeway
request from TSG (Transportation Safety Group) after several requests from
residents to TSG'
Kevin - Crossing Ahead sign in both direction
Matt - Convex mirror for drivers, crossing ahead
Betty- Hardest port is leaving the center, Revere center has good crossing
signage, maybe copy that
Mike- Would trim things if we could, signage is great
Peggy reminds us that Seasons 4 owns a triangle of that land where the trees
area and [amelia Place has grass sightIine problems
Bob- Believe Season 4 has trimmed things in the past based on sightlines
Ram- More concerned about coming from downtown, no problem coming from the
east, great sightlines
Jim- crossing signs, Active Crossing Ahead, mirror would be great
Ben: There were stop signs on the bikeway historically, that was switched, as
an employee at Seasons 4 sees a lot of folks crossing over the last 4 years
Bike/Ped plan
Kevin attempts to repeat what Susan and Sheila are doing at TSG
Jim- is collecting a petition at the shop about it, feels we should be
reminding folks weekly
Mark- Feels that the Comprehensive Plan committee doesn't have the knowledge
needed, and we need to be liaising with that committee and educating them on
the plan. Need to be looking ahead not back. Is this comprehensive plan the
right place for the future or is there somewhere else we can be changing the
mindset of this town.
Peggy- did a presentation about this to the CP committee and their consultants
years ago, but those consultants are no longer involved and a followup
presentation on recommendations never happened.
Sheila- Talked a bit about the plan to put in a budget for hiring consultants
through Capital Requests for a Bike/Bed plan. Has seen plans from Toole and
Alta for other towns, hasn't yet compared with MAPC's plans. It would help
improve TSG's handling of sidewalks, traffic changes, transportation changes.
Jim worked with Alta in Santa Barbara on a Bike/Ped plan.
May want to reinvigorate the Roadway subcommittee between 3 committee members
meeting with DPW and Planning.
Mark- would like to know what kind of folks you want on the committee, what
criteria we want
Pursuing inviting High School students to sit on liaison for the BAC. Betty
will talk to Stella Carr who recently had many applicants to Sustainable
Lexington.
