I. Approval of Minutes from 4/21
II. Updates
A. Principal
1. Site Council has worked differently this year. Thank you for showing up. Know this has been
hard.
2. MCAS: Lots of students opted out. Department of Ed. is not holding schools liable for this, this
year given COVID situation. We are running MCAS remotely.
3. Eighth grade end-of-year celebration is being finalized. Health regulations keep changing. At
the moment, Monday June 14 as a day of service; Tuesday, June 15 is a boat cruise around
Boston harbor, Wednesday June 16 is a day-off campus. Thursday June 17th is a car parade.
Friday June 18 a diploma celebration. RLA/PBLAfamilies will be invited.
4. New schedule has been proposed to staff(trimesters; 6 day schedule x 6 classes a day; 2
WIN blocks). Optional staff meetings being held today. One class will drop every day.
5. Standards-Based Grading continues. Dr. Thomas Guskey is working with district to align
practices and develop `process standards'
a) Will be forming a team to look at process standards, will be meeting over the summer
b) We still have to use Aspen for reporting, but we're looking at other software for
recording/tracking
6. District is planning an administrative retreat to look at eventual (future) School Improvement
Plans.
B. Staff
1. MCAS went surprisingly well!
C. Parents
1. Follow-up re. lunch concerns from earlier SC. (Students unable to receive lunch)
a) Principal: Kevin Silva and Bayard Klimasmith met up to work out a solution
2. Students want to sign yearbooks, etc., on the final Friday during the certificate ceremony, but
some families have already planned vacation.Any way to rearrange things?
a) Principal: It's difficult, but we can hand out yearbooks a little early...
3. Next year: maybe we can alternate Zoom meetings and in-person meetings. Once we have
next year's group determined we can poll
