HomeMy WebLinkAboutRecreation Committee - REC - Charge - Revised August 2021 RECREATION COMMITTEE Members: 7 Appointed by: Town Manager, with Select Board approval Length of Term: 3 years Appointments made: May 31 Liaisons: Select Board, Community Center Program Advisory Committee, Lincoln Park Subcommittee, Community Preservation Committee, Lexington School Committee, Lexington Bicycle Committee Meeting Times: 3rd Wednesday of each month plus other times as needed Subcommittee: Lincoln Park Subcommittee Description: The Committee is responsible for the planning and administration of public playgrounds and recreational centers in the town. It is charged with administering, expanding, and promoting recreation, leisure activities, play, sports and physical education. Criteria for Membership: Members should have an active interest in recreation in Lexington. Knowledge of sports and familiarity with Lexington Town Meeting is also desirable. Ref: Lexington Code Chapter 29 §17-20 Selectmen designated as Special Municipal Employees on April 24, 1963. Selectmen reaffirmed designation as Special Municipal Employees on January 18, 2006. Revised Charge adopted by Selectmen on October 15, 2018, adding Liaisons. Charge updated August 2021.
