The group reviewed and discussed the Chair's outline of recommendations dated September 24, 2015 regarding GroundView and additional design criteria items. 2. Based on the last presentation by GroundView Architects with seven conceptual designs, the group discussed continuing to work with GroundView Architects and voted unanimously to continue with them as designers for the Grain Mill Alley project (Burwell, moved; Enders, seconded). 3. The group voted unanimously to enlarge the space for the alternative transportation node by allowing the use of two adjacent parking spaces (Sullivan, moved; Burwell, seconded). 4. The group voted unanimously in support of a speed table at the intersection of Edison Way and the alley (Boudette, moved; Enders, seconded). 5. The group voted unanimously in support of the following items in one motion: a. A 3" raised sidewalk approximately 6 feet wide with granite curb alongside the Hammond building with the existing planter removed; b. A design of the space between the buildings that includes two planter beds each with trees in the middle of the space allowing for pedestrian circulation alongside each building and in winding paths between the beds; c. A curved planter bed in the public right of way along Mass Avenue with bollards discreetly installed at the roadway edge and providing a visual barrier on the west side, and seating on the periphery of this space; d. A design that treats the center of the Mass Avenue public space as an open area for changeable seasonal activity (e.g. checkers /chess, sculpture, busker performance); e. A design that encourages the creative use of lighting that meets safety need and Bank of America's needs, including ground -based fixtures to light the trees from below and the Mass Ave public space from the sides.; f. A design that uses material to offer continuity from end to end - the alternative transportation node to Mass Avenue; g. A alternative transportation node that includes a vertical structure with orientation /information on paths, bikeway, LexPress, etc.; seating; bike parking that conforms to national standards; a bike repair station; and recognizes the Toole Design efforts; and h. Incorporating electricity at Mass Ave, in the alley between the two buildings, and at the alt - transportation -node. (Boudette, moved; Sullivan, seconded)
