HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-07-09-HDC-min PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION Meeting broadcasted by LexMedia Minutes of Thursday, July 9, 2015 Department of Public Facilities, First Floor Training Room, 201 Bedford Street, Lexington, MA 7:00 PM Commissioners present: Lynn Hopkins, Chairperson, Britta McCarthy, Paul Ross, Robert Warshawer and Anne Eccles Associate Commissioners, Marilyn Fenollosa, Nancy Shepard and Robin Lovett Department Clerk: Linda Rainville FORMAL HEARINGS 7:00 PM 6 Bruce Road: Anne Nuss, presented plans to have cedar fence installed at her residence. The fence will have a natural finish, pyramid post caps. Ms. Nuss will send the manufacturer name and style of fence to L. Rainville All in favor 7:10 PM 5 Hancock Avenue: Bill Hubner, Incite Architecture, representing Mia Shapiro, presented plans for an addition to the existing house. The addition includes a two car garage. The existing windows will stay. All in favor 7:20 PM 1 Oakland St: Colin Smith, exterior architectural changes in the Battle Green District MOVED TO AUGUST 7:30 PM 2-4 Wallis Court: Colin Smith, presented plans to replace two rear entry doors with two panel, painted, wood doors. Also would like to replace windows in kind (Windsor wood window). Mr. Smith will return to the HDC with sample of the window. Mr. Smith also presented plans to repaint the house, the same color as exists. All in favor 7:40 PM 1048 Massachusetts Avenue: Nick Atshartous, exterior architectural changes in the East Village District MOVED TO AUGUST 7:50 PM 1656 Massachusetts Avenue: Mark Connor presented a plan to install a 3’6” x 1’5” blade sign. The sign will be hung as demonstrated on the plan. All in favor 8:00 PM 43 Waltham Street: Peter Darlow, presented plans to move the existing entrance door to where the entrance door is for Tutto Restaurant. The will fill in the area where the present door. Also they would like to move the sign that exist over the door to over the new entranceway. All in favor 8:10 PM 40 Hancock Street: Mr. Peter Daus Haberly representing Jane and Stephen Williamson, presented plans to renovate the carriage house. They would like to move the passage door around to the front. They would like to replace the window sash with wood, simulated divided light windows. New wood shutters will be installed on shutter screws. The chimney and siding will be replaced as noted on plan. This hearing is continued. They will come back with cut sheets for the garage doors, CONTINUED HEARINGS 14 Maple Street: Michael Martignetti, Atty Ed Harrington and Jerry Maloney spoke to the Commission regarding changes in the original plan. The Commission approved the following items; Demolition of the existing house Construction of new single family dwelling as shown on drawings dated 5/29/2015 The house will have cedar clapboards and painted wood trim. Gutters and downspout will be aluminum Exteriors doors will be wood. Style as shown on drawings. The house will be set back according to the Plot Plan date June 29, 2015 Buffer Zone of plantings at the Byron Street side and the Maple Street side The following items are outstanding and will require additional review and an updated CoFA before construction: Exterior paint colors Fence style, color and location Roofing manufacturer, style and color Garage door manufacturer, style Window style and manufacturer. The clad windows referenced on the drawings were NOT approved. Light fixtures Paving materials Approved: Five in favor, three abstained 1775 and 1761 Massachusetts Avenue (Parklet): Melissa Tintocalis, exterior architectural changes in the Battle Green District – No one appeared INFORMAL HEARINGS 46 Bedford Street : Eric Brown spoke to the Commission regarding signs/banners he would to install. The banners are 6 ½’ tall by 18” wide. There will be 4 banners on one side of the building and 3 banners on the other side. OTHER BUSINESS Discussion Woburn and Mass Ave Intersection Mass Ave Signalization Chair Lynn spoke with the Commission regarding this project. The Selectmen have held public meetings and will be holding more public meetings regarding this issue. 927 Mass Ave fence – Letter was mailed to resident Approve Minutes from June 4, 2015 - Minutes approved as written PRIOR TO THE MEETING IT IS THE RESPONSIBILITY OF EACH COMMISSIONER TO VIEW ALL PROPERTIES ON THE AGENDA
