Minutes of Meeting of March 27, 2015
20/20 Vision Committee
A meeting of the was held on Friday, March 27, 2015 at 7:45 a.m. in the Parker Room in
the Town Office Building at 1625 Massachusetts Avenue.
Members Present:
Margaret Coppe, Ginna Johnson, Carroll Ann Bottino, Peter Lee, Joe Pato, Fernando Quezada,
Dan Krupka, Peter Enrich, Matthew Pronchik
Members Absent:
, Saatvik Ahluwalia, Alan Wrigley, Andrew Dixon, Bhumip Khasnabish
Call to order
The meeting was called to order at 7:55 a.m.
Approval of minutes
The minutes from the 20/20 Vision Committee meeting of February 27, 2015 were reviewed and approved.
Committee members were reminded about the need to complete an online conflict of interest exercise.
Study of community models of multicultural integration
Dan Krupka was thanked for his willingness to serve as point person for this effort. Dan stated that there is
still a need to define the scope of the study. He further stated that it is essential that the Chinese American
Association of Lexington (CAAL) be involved in this study from the start.
Committee volunteers to lead potential new 20/20 focus areas
Peter Enrich and Carroll Ann Bottino agreed to serve as point persons for the topic of “Issues of diversity
beyond race and ethnicity”. Regarding the topic of the “Future of e-government”, F. Quezada mentioned
that Bhumip Khasnabish and Matthew Pronchik had agreed to serve as point persons on this topic. Peter
Lee is also considering participation subject to time availability. Regarding the topic of “Capital planning
and fiscal challenges”, Peter Enrich that this topic be put on the back burner for the time being. The
Committee agreed.
Follow-up on recommendations of the sub-committee on demographic change and recognition from Harvard
Kennedy School of Government.
Margaret Coppe described meetings held with education department staff to explore possible ways to
celebrate Indian culture through highlighting famous Indians. She said the dialogue was useful and
productive and will require continuity.
Dan Krupka provided information on plans to convene a special meeting involving all groups included in
the recommendations of the sub-committee on demographic change. He mentioned that tentative dates
were being explored for May.
Regarding the Kennedy School award, F. Quezada said that efforts should be made to bring attention to this
important recognition. He agreed to look into an item in the local newspaper.
Briefing on discussions on systems dynamics and housing
F.Quezada mentioned that a private consulting group is interested in developing a systems dynamics model
relating to low-cost housing in Lexington. The group has offered to address the committee.
