• October minutes approved as amended.

E. Mead informed the council that Ms Wilson is currently on
maternity leave, request sent to Harrington faculty asking
for volunteer to consider joining the council until she
(Vanessa) returns.

• Topic Social Emotional Learning- Key points
• Point of Let's Chat is dialogue
• Good turnout of parents.
• Main topic of discussion: children's assigned seating at
lunch vs free choice
• E. Mead shared the reason for assigned seating: children
feeling excluded during the lunch time, stressful
environment, limiting choices to promote social comfort.
• E. Mead shared seating plans at the other elementary
schools. ( Other schools also have restricted seating
except for Fiske) Reports that J. Hendrix surveyed the 5`h
grade students about lunch time ( did not have that
survey available at this time)
• Parent rep voiced concern that the limited seating
choices may have an influence on outside friendships;
requested reasoning behind the seating decision be
shared with parents.
• E. Mead acknowledged parent concerns. Will continue to
explore cafeteria seating options.

R. Londhe summarized student survey questions that
were submitted by council members.
Discussion and restructuring of survey questions.
Survey to be administered to grade3-5 students
Proposed use of Survey Monkey
• Finalizing the student survey December
