The meeting was called to order at 7:01 PM. Sharon MacKenzie, R.N., CCM, served as meeting
Chair Person.
The Minutes of September 16, 2015 were approved with corrections.
The Community Health report was reviewed and the following topics were discussed;

Community Health and Infectious Disease Report: Director Cody informed the Board on
the various animal quarantine orders that were issued to prevent the possible transmission of
rabies due to dogs or cats biting humans, pets, and wildlife or from wounds of unknown origin.
Flu Clinic planning update: Director Cody presented the Board with the upcoming Flu
Clinic Schedule, and MRC volunteer list for the October 24, 2015 Flu Clinic. Last year, over 900
people were vaccinated at this clinic and the Health Division is planning for a similar turnout.
The Environmental Health report was reviewed and the following topics were discussed;
Environmental Health Report was reviewed for various inspections conducted by the
Health Agent. Beijing represented by Ms. Xiao Feng Cherf, Manager and Ms. Maureen Lee of
Food Service Solutions discussed progress and recent inspection reports, continued for next
month.
Sick Food Worker Exclusion and Restriction Plan Project- Abbie Atkins, MPH
Candidate intern. – Project update. The Sick Food Worker Exclusion and Restriction Plan
Project that was implemented and created by BUSPH student Abigail Atkins was discussed.
Director Cody gave brief summary of the tri-fold education materials to food establishments in
order to avoid disease transmission to customers as a result of a sick food worker.
State Sanitary Code Case Review: The Board reviewed the State Sanitary Code Case for
15 Diamond Road. The property owner submitted a request of extension to make repairs for the
State Sanitary Code Violations. “After much discussion about the State Sanitary Code violations
OTC dated October 9, 2015, the deadline to comply with the order was extended to December 1,
2015.” Sharon MacKenzie proposed the motion and Jay seconded the motion. All were in favor.
Tobacco permit site visits – Health Educator, Andrews made site visits to Busa Wine &
Spirits (55 Bedford Street), Five Forks Sunoco (286 Lincoln Street), Cumberlnd Farms (324
Marrett Road), Stop & Shop (34 Bedford Street), Colbea Enterprises LLC (Shell – 915 Waltham
Street), Rita & Ryan’s Inc. (396 Waltham Street), Walgreens #01863 (60 Bedford Street). The
site visit included a discussion about compliance with the requirement to post signs. A survey
about the updated regulation requirements was also provided to the permit holders along with a
copy of the updated regulations.

34 Woburn Street requested a Plumbing Variance for the use of a non-conforming
residential bath tub. After reviewing the written request, it was determined that additional
information was required before the request could be heard in front of the Board of Health. The
matter was continued until additional information was provided. .
The Emergency Preparedness report was reviewed and the following topics were discussed.
The Board was updated on recent the table top exercise on the topic of “Shelter
Operations” that took place in Natick on September 30, 2015.
In an effort to facilitate the merger of Region 4A and Region 4B into one Health and
Medical Coordinating Coalition, (HMCC),Lexington 4A MRC members and 4B MRC members
met with the Regional MRC coordinator Cathy Corkery in Lexington on October 14, 2015.
Members reviewed the best practices in “Preventing Further Harm: Practical Insights
(Psychological First Aid overview)”.
Burt Perlmutter, MD, motioned that the meeting be adjourned and John J. Flynn, J.D, seconded.
All were in favor. The meeting adjourned at 8:24 PM.
It was noted that the next meeting will take place on Wednesday, November 18, 2015
