Meeting Minutes
September 17, 2015
Attendees: David Williams, Ohainnan, Lynne Wilson, Doug Luoente, Brian Kelley, Robert Pressmari, Joanne Shorter, Cynthia
Kuechle, Christina Burwell, Myles Connors, Parterre.
The Chairman opened the meeting at 7:35pm.
Upper Meadow - The chairman discussed the plantings in the upper meadow with Myles Connors. It was decided that certain
areas will likely be mowed at the end of October. Any plantings in that area will be done in the spring of 2016. Since we had a
very hot and dry season, some plants did not bloom well this year. Myles will also contemplate what plantings will occur for next
season.
Bathrooms - The plantings near the bathrooms at Lincoln field were discussed. Possibly moving some of the plantings to a more
shaded area was also contemplated. It was decided that some additional full sun shrubs might be appropriate in the bathroom
area next year. Members commented that the bathroom area and the interior of the bathrooms have been kept very clean. It was
also noted that the bubbler near the bathrooms needs to be repaired, since it is covered in rust.
Damaged Items along Fitness Path - The committee reviewed the "gardener notes" from Parterre. The committee also reviewed
some photographs of damaged features along the fitness path. The damage appears to be normal wear and tear, but important to
fix so that no one is injured when using it. Brian Kelley made a motion, and it was unanimously approved to spend whatever is
needed to have the items fixed as soon as possible.
Granite Forest - The committee discussed the proposed project to install granite forest at Lincoln Park. The proposed CPA
request for $30,000 toward the project for FY 2017 submitted by Karen Simmons, was also discussed. The committee talked
about additional funding so ao given thefacttha\thnpnoject will cost an estimated $75,000. The possibility of obtaining Grant
money from groups or public entities interested in public art projects was brought forward. It was also noted that the trees for the
project will most likely be donated by the Tree Committee based on the prior agreement. Christina Burwell will inquire about
grants from her connections through the state. Additional fundraising options will be discussed at our next meeting. It was also
noted that the committee will pursue updated price quotes from possible vendors of the project
Eagle Scout Projects - The Chairman read notes submitted from Wesley Wirth regarding the three Eagle Scout projects proposed
for the area. The committee will follow up on these at the next meeting.
Nell Walker - Lynne Wilson made a motion that a sign be purchased by the Lincoln Park Sub-Committee to mark the trees
planted in honor of Nell Walkers outstanding years of volunteer service to the Town and the the Lincoln Park Sub-Committtee.
This motion passed unanimously. Our committee will coordinate with the Tree Committee to get the appropriate wording for the
sign.
It was proposed by the Chairman that the next meeting be held o October 29, 2015 at 7:30pm.
The meeting adjourned at 8:45pm
Respectfully submitted,
Doug Lucente
