VOTE:40(Note:Mr.Manzarrivedafterthisvotewastaken.) 2.TransportationServicesUpdate:Ms.RebecchireportedthattheTransportationOfficeinthe TownOfficeBuildingwillcloseonJune23 rd at12:30p.m.andreopenthenextmorninginthe newCommunityCenter.OtherstaffattheCommunityCenterwillbecrosstrainedtocover transportationneedsevenwhentransportationservicesstaffarenotavailable. Ms.RebecchireportedthatthereisconcernabouttheRoute2busmeetingitsschedule whenitneedstoaddastopattheabouttoopenCommunityCenter.Shesuggestedthat theRoute2buseliminateitstripintoVynebrookeVillagebecausethereisrarelyanyone fromVynebrookeVillagewhogetsonoroffthebus,andthewalktothestreetisshort. Changeswillbewellpublicized.TherewasdiscussionaboutthebusservingVynebrooke Villageondemand(i.e.,onlyasrequestedbyapassengeronthebus). AmotionwasmadeandapprovedtosupportthebuspullingintoVynebrookeVillageonlyon 0(Mr.Manzarrivedafterthisvotewastaken.) demandasitcompletesitsroute.VOTE:4 3.BrookhavenUpdate:Ms.RebecchireportedhavingmetwithBrookhavenstaffabout havingtheLexpressRoute3alternatebetweenservingLexingtonRidgeandBrookhaven. ThiswasinresponsetoarequestbyBrookhavenresidentShirleyStoltzformoreLexpress serviceatBrookhaven.ItwasnotedthatBrookhavenhasbeencontributing$1000ayear forLexpress.Thefundshavebeengoingintothe{ĻƌĻĭƷƒĻƓ͸ƭgiftaccount.Atthemeeting, BrookhavenexpressedreluctancetohaveLexpressreduceitsservicetoLexingtonRidgein ordertoserveBrookhaven.AsuggestedalternativewastoincludeBrookhavenonlyonthe 10:30a.m.tripandondemandbetween8:30a.m.and1:30p.m. Thissuggestionwassomovedandapproved.VOTE:40(Mr.Manzarrivedafterthisvote wastaken.) 4.Recommendationsfor{ĻƌĻĭƷƒĻƓ͸ƭGoals:Therewasdiscussionaboutrecommendations forthisCommitteetoforwardtotheSelectmenfortheirgoalsettingsession.After considerablediscussion,thefollowingrecommendedgoalswereidentified: a.Supportfundingforanewcommunitybustobeusedbyresidentsofallagesfor congregatetransportationprograms,e.g.,servicesfromschoolstoCommunityCenter, studentfieldtrips,COAfieldtrips,pointtopointRecreationandHumanServices programs,and/orotherTownprograms. b.TakethenecessarystepstoestablishataxistandinLexingtoncenter.(NOTE:Ataxi companyiscurrentlyinterestedinprovidingthisservice.) c.IncorporatetransportationrelatedinfrastructureaspartoftheCompleteStreets initiatives,e.g.,sheltersatbusstops,publictransportationinformationkiosksatkey locations. d.Supporttransportationrelatedlegislationthatwillcontinueand/orexpandfundingfor MBTAbusroutesandtheSuburbanTransportationProgram. Seekalternativerevenueresourcesforpublictransitthatmaynotcurrentlybe e. availableforoperatingexpenses. It was agreed that Mr. Levison will share these goals with Michelle Ciccolo (Selectman liaison to this Committee), incorporate non-substantive changes recommended by Ms. Ciccolo, and forward them to the Board of Selectmen by Friday. 5.PublicMeetingonWoburnSt./Mass.Ave.Intersection:Therewasdiscussionaboutthe controversialplansforaddingatrafficlightatthisintersection.Mr.Canaledoesnotbelieve thereisareasonablealternativeandexpectsthatatrafficlightisinevitable.Itwasagreed thatthisCommitteewillnottakeapositionatthistime.Mr.Levisonplanstoattendthe June10 th publicmeetingbeingheldtodiscussthisissue. 6.Other:Mr.CanalereportedthattheMBTAneedsfundstobetterwinterizeitstracksand equipment.Thefundingsourceforthishasnotyetbeenidentified,buttheƭƷğƷĻ͸ƭ TransportationImprovementProgram(TIP)maybetapped,whichcouldimpactTIP projects.TheplannedsignalizationofMass.Ave.intersectionsatMarrettRoad.,Maple Street,andPleasantStreetisaTIPproject.
