3 Police Department Update
LPD fully anticipates completing our policies to meet full accreditation by the January
2016 meeting. We have updated the files so as to meet accreditation certification.
The promotion process is coming to a close Two promotions to Sergeant expected in
next couple weeks The assessment center for promotion to Lieutenant completed
September 11
Lexington hired a Computer Project Manager and we expect to spend a couple months
reviewing the needs of the Police Department for purchasing a new software system
Town Meeting funded the purchase
4 Policy Review
41-D High Speed Pursuit. Language on the Leblanc decision removed and replaced
with the new MOU permitting officers to make stops over the town line
2B Mutual Aid. Similar change with the Leblanc decision.
31A Recruiting and Selection of Police Officers Add language for document
destruction.
46A All Hazards Plan. Add language for notification of Senior managers and an
emergency notification list for the Dispatch center

12A Command Authority, Succession and Protocol Citations added to policy and
noted that officers of lesser ranks may assume command if they have a specialized
expertise
22B Uniforms & Equipment. Add uniforms being issued to all officers and making
note that non Special officers will wear a French blue uniform
24A Collective Bargaining. Clarify the types of unions at the PD including non-
represented.
41U Police Vehicle Operations Correct language for the "specialized"vehicles used
by the police department.
410 Handling the Mentally Ill Add language for training of civilian personnel
54A Public Information & the News Media. Correct language as to where media
inquiries will go for major incidents and other special circumstances We need to add to
the draft media mquines for NEMLEC incidents
61C Towing Motor Vehicles & Inventory Procedures Add language for towing from
private properties
72A Booking Procedures Change adult language to 18 years of age consistent with
change in the law Add language giving Commanding Officer discretion to hire for a
continuous cell watch if appropriate for a suicidal person.
72E Holding Facility Meter room language removed.
73C Legal Process Update list of civil orders that the police department will
document as being `received' by Lexington.
81A Communications Center Add a tactical flip chart to the dispatch center Also
update the resource list.
52A Internal Affairs Add full version of document retention list rather than an
abbreviated list.
82A Records Management & Dissemination. Update how complaints may be received
at the PD to include email, Internet and other electronic means

55E Diplomat& Consular Notifications This policy adopted from the State
Department and this citation needs to be added. All other changes are minor grammatical or
spelling

issued.
43C Criminal Intelligence Discussion on how opening section applies to the text of
the policy Otherwise, all other changes were minor grammatical or spelling.
