HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-06-29-Greenways Corridor Committee - ACROSS Logo Memorandum Town of Lexington, Massachusetts Greenways Corridor Committee KO,CTEL:781-698-4580 EITH HMARTHAIR KB EVIN REUNIG A DFAX:(781)863-9468 LEXANDRA OHAN ME ARGARET NDERS EE ILEEN NTIN DG ONALD RANT RH OBERT AUSSLEIN PK AULNIGHT MT ICHAEL ABACZYNSKI Whereas the ACROSS Lexington trail system was envisioned as a comprehensive system encompassing the entire Lexington community, thereby requiring a logo that captures the spirit of Lexington, Whereas the ACROSS Lexington logo and color scheme was created by committee process by the Greenways Corridor Committee in 2011, Whereas the logo and color scheme was reviewed and approved by numerous Town committees and boards including approval and acceptance by the Board of Selectmen in 2011, Whereas the logo and color scheme was reviewed and approved for installation in Arlington’s Great Meadows by the Arlington Conservation Commission and Board of Selectmen in 2014, Whereas this approved logo has been installed on some 17 miles of routes in Lexington to date, Whereas logo signs have been purchased for installation on some 25 miles of additional routes planned throughout Lexington, Whereas marketing and branding of the ACROSS Lexington concept has been centered on the existing logo and color scheme including the printing of some 12,000 color brochures to date, Whereas the creation of the ACROSS Lexington logo was largely the effort of Rick Abrams, now deceased, a founding member of the Greenways Corridor Committee and for whom the ACROSS Lexington system was renamed in memoriam as the ACROSS Lexington: The Rick Abrams Memorial Trail Network, Whereas it would be imprudent management on the part of the Greenways Corridor Committee of Town funds which have paid for the present inventory of logo signs and their replacement to seek a change in the existing logo design and color scheme, Whereas it would be an imprudent request of meeting time on the part of the Greenways Corridor Committee of the many boards and committees both in Lexington and Arlington required to consider a change to the existing logo and color scheme, Therefore by unanimous vote on the part of the Greenways Corridor Committee at its meeting on June 29, 2015, it was resolved that there will be no reconsideration of either the existing logo or color scheme for ACROSS Lexington: The Rick Abrams Memorial Trail Network. 1625 MASSACHUSETTS AVENUE LEXINGTON, MASSACHUSETTS 02420 greenwaycc@lexingtonma.gov
