Present: TMG members: Richard Cana le, Dave Cannon, Elaine Dratch, Jeanne Krieger,
Eve Tapper, and Jerry VanHook, Gail Wagner; Guests: Sam Offei -Addo, BSC
Consulting, Terry Gleason and Jeff Roth, MIT — Lincoln Labs
The Traffic Mitigation Group (TMG) met on Tuesday, April 10, 2007 at 9:30 AM in
Room 111 of the Town Office Building. The following summarizes the discussion.
Hartwell Ave
➢ Sam Offei -Addo gave a brief overview of his past work in Lexington. He has
looked at Hartwell Ave /Maguire Rd before.
➢ BSC is planning on looking at 2 issues: 1) Striping plan for bike lane from
Maguire Rd to AFB — looking at the current conditions of Hartwell and the impact
of bike lanes and more traffic; 2) Build a model that can be used at some time to
look at future increases in FAR.
➢ The group discussed the project including the issues of safety and access to the
corridor for all users.
➢ Dave and Sam agreed that study would be finished by the summer so that the
20/20 Vision committee would be able to use the model for their future
predictions.
Concord Avenue sidewalk
➢ Eve gave an update on the issue. We hope to find an amicable solution that gets
the sidewalk built.
TIP Input Day
➢ Jeanne read her comments for TIP Input Day and the group discussed them and
provided input.
➢ Richard will do TIP Input form for the existing Hartwell Ave projects with TIP
numbers.
Waltham Street
➢ Jeanne said that the Waltham City Council would take up the Waltham Street
crosswalk issue in the next two weeks.
Updates
➢ Richard suggested that TMG should refocus on overhauling the traffic by -law.
➢ The group discussed the process for developing such .a zoning amendment.
