HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-04-24-2020-min Town of Lexington Lexington 20/20 Vision Committee Minutes of Meeting of April 24, 2015 20/20 Vision Committee A meeting of the was held on Friday, April 24, 2015 at 7:45 a.m. in the Parker Room in the Town Office Building at 1625 Massachusetts Avenue. Members Present: Margaret Coppe, Ginna Johnson, Carroll Ann Bottino, Peter Lee, Joe Pato, Dan Krupka, Matthew Pronchik, Andrew Dixon, Alan Wrigley, Fernando Quezada. Members Absent: , Saatvik Ahluwalia, Bhumip Khasnabish, Peter Enrich Others present: Candy McLaughlin, Project Manager, Town Manager’s Office Call to order The meeting was called to order at 7:50 a.m. Approval of minutes The minutes from the 20/20 Vision Committee meeting of March 27, 2015 were reviewed and approved. Town website Candy McLaughlin described her ongoing work in helping to re-design the Town web site. She distributed some visual charts and went over various aspects of the criteria being used with the intent in making information access more user friendly and relevant to the Lexington community. She presented her plans for the 20/20 Vision Committee site in particular and requested feedback from the group. The Committee offered observations and suggestions on the use of categories for effective and timely access. Proposed new 20/20 focus areas: Discussion was held on the scope and purpose of the new areas of focus for the 20/20 Vision Committee. Regarding “Issues of diversity beyond race and ethnicity” a one page listing of initial thoughts by Peter Enrich and Carroll Ann Bottino was distributed and reviewed. Regarding “The Future of e-government” for which Bhumip Khasnabish and Matthew Pronchick will serve as point persons. Matthew mentioned that he and Bhumip did some initial research on mobile devices and will meet again Framework for study of community models of multicultural integration Dan Krupka provided an update on his current thinking regarding the exercise of studying models of multicultural integration presented by cities and communities across the U.S. He mentioned that the Town’s budget allocation for this study was approved by Town Meeting. Follow-up on recommendations of the sub-committee on demographic change. Dan Krupka reviewed the agenda and other arrangements for the May 13, 2015 meeting of representatives of groups and town units involved in the recommendations of the demographic change sub-committee. He also distributed a chart showing some of the progress made since the release of the original report. Meeting adjourned: 9:00 a.m.
