HomeMy WebLinkAbout2015-04-02-BASS-minBoard of Assessor's Meeting April 02, 2015 A Meeting of the Board of Assessors was held on April 02, 2015 at 7:00 p.m. located in the Assessor's Office of the Town Office Building. In attendance: Gregory Johnson, Chairman, Edmund C. Grant, Member, Caz Growblewski, Member, Robert F. Lent, Director of Assessing. Consent Agenda Public Comment Time: There were no attendees. Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted 3 -0 roll call vote to go into Executive Session to discuss the Fiscal Year 2015 Real Estate Abatements, Personal Property Abatements and Statutory Exemptions. Executive Session The Board reviewed and discussed 70 Fiscal Year 2015 Real Estate Abatement Applications. The Board approved fifty four (54) of the Fiscal Year 2015 Real Estate Abatement Applications. The Board denied fourteen (14) of the Fiscal Year 2015 Real Estate Abatement Applications. The Board did not act on (2) Fiscal Year 2015 Real Estate Abatement Applications. One (1) application had been Withdrawn by the Applicant and One (1) application was held for further review and discussion at the next meeting. There were no Fiscal Year 2015 Personal Property Abatement Applications. There were No Meeting Minutes to review, discuss and approve. Upon motion duly made and seconded it was voted to adjourn the Executive Session and return to the Regular Session at 10:00 p.m. New Business: The Board discussed using Signature Stamps of each members' personal signature to appear on the original Real Estate Abatement Applications when the motion is favorable resulting in the approval to abate. Upon motion duly made and seconded, Signature Stamps of each member can be used on an original Real Estate Abatement Application when the motion is favorable resulting in the approval to abate. Board of Assessor's Meeting April 2, 2015 Continued: New Business: Robert Lent, Director of Assessing updated the Board with three (3) Appellate Tax Board Appeals of Real Estate Abatements. Each is for Fiscal Year 2013 and Fiscal Year 2015 The parcels are known as Assessors Map (32 Bedford Street), (60 Bedford Street) and (3 Forbes Road). Settlement discussions had been discussed and will be prepared for each of the Fiscal Year 2013 and Fiscal Year 2015 Appeals. When each of the Settlements are returned to Robert Lent, Director of Assessing, he will present the Final Settlements to the Board for signatures. Next item - Robert Lent, Director of Assessing discussed amongst the Board whether or not an alternate could attend and perform future Meeting Minutes. The Board was not in favor, stating it should remain within the Assessing Personnel, suggesting as many as 20 hours during any particular month if needed. The next scheduled Meeting will be held on April 10, 2015 at 8:30 a.m. There being no other business a motion was duly made and seconded, it was voted to adjourn the meeting at 10:10 p.m. A true record: Attest Sandra Pentedemos Administrative Assistant Meeting Secretary
