WiththeresignationofMaryGillespieandtheupcomingtermexpirationofSuzieBarry,there willbeopportunitiesforsubcommitteememberstobeappointedtothefullcommittee. Lorain,LindaandBarbaraattendedtheCroninLectureatBrookhavenonFebruary27wherea panelofBrookhavenresidentsdescribedtheirexperiencesduringWorldWarII.Theyplanto meetwithLauraAnderson,DirectorofCommunityLiving,toexplorefuturecollaborations. DanceAroundtheWorld GeethaPadakiexplainedthatthiseventhasbeententativelyrescheduledforOctober25,2015, TheMarchdatewasnolongerworkablemainlybecauseweatherconditionshaveprevented practicesessions.Thisnewtimeframewillallowtheplannerstobuildaroundthethemesof HarvestorHalloween.Geethahasreachedouttomanyethnicgroupsintown.Sheisstill lookingforaCoChair,althoughthereisapossibilitythatMelanieLinmaybeavailabletoserve. PatriotsDay2015 Budgetpresentation:SuzieBarrygaveanoverviewofthe"µ³³¯ºº««ȟ¹totalbudget,thefunds availableforthePatriotsDayParade,projectedcostsassociatedwiththeparade,andestimated fundstoberaisedthroughsponsorshipoutreach.Shearrivedataprojectedamounttobe budgetedformarchingunits.Thisamountisveryclosetothetotaloffeesrequestedby marchingunitstodate.TheCommitteemustkeepfeesasclosetolast¿«§¸ȟ¹aspossible. AleppoShriners:SondraLucentereportedonherdiscussionswiththeShriners.Theyareoffering amenuofpossiblemarchinggroups:theAleppoShrinersClowns;ClownsonCycles;theCape CodFireBrigade(golfcartsdressedupasfiretrucks);MotorPatrol(replicaof1902Oldsmobiles); theOrientalBand,onaplatformtruck;andMiniAutos.The­¸µ»¶ȟ¹topchoicewastheAleppo Clowns.Dependingonthe2®¸¯´«¸¹ȟwillingnesstodiscussfeearrangements,wemightbeable toinvitetheClownsonCyclesand/ortheMiniAutos.Sondrawilldiscussandreportback. ClowningforKidzFoundation:Sondraagreedtotalkfurtherwiththisgrouptolearnmoredetails aboutthem. AcceptanceLetter:SuzanneCatonwillupdateandredrafttheacceptancelettersenttoallparade participants.Itwillnowincludelanguagethat1)unitsmustarrivewiththepromisednumberof participantsorfacethepossibilityofareducedfeebasedontheactualnumberattending;and2) aunitmustpassthereviewingstandinLexingtonCenterinordertobepaid. ParadeAmbassadors:LindahaswrittentoallformerParadeAmbassadors,sentemailstokey individuals,theLexingtonListandLHSdepartmentheads,andsentpressreleasestothe Colonial Times andthe LexingtonShopper.Todate,therearesevenconfirmedvolunteers(4former,3new). ShorteningtheParadeRoute:CeriseJaleliansuggestedthatthecommitteeconsidershorteningthe paraderoutebyuptoonemileandplacingthestartingpointneartheMonroeTavern,citingthe smallnumberofparadeviewersforthefirstmilestretchandthelengthoftheparaderoute, whichistaxingformanymarchers.SuzieBarryexplainedthatthisactionwouldtriggermajor publicsafety,maintenanceandlogisticalconcernssuchasroadclosures,aswellasreactionfrom angryneighbors.SheadvisedthattheTownwoulddefinitelynotbeopentothisidea.
