HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-12-19-Bridge-min SITE COUNCIL 12/19/14 ATTENDANCE: Bronte Abraham, Lynnette Allen, Russ Bosbach, Angela Chang, Lee Noel Chase, Meg Collela, Betsy Conway, Jean Kelly, Julia Mabuchi, Susan Orenstein, Naomi Priver, Deb Sabin, Deidre Schadler, Roxana Spitaleri-Risso, Zelda Rubenstein I.approve minutes 11/21 II.TrafÐc (update from district-wide SBC meeting 12/17/14) A.Angela asked how to get a trafÐc guard 1.said is easy, write letter to MaryEllen Dunn, police want to have presence for safety in general 2.tried last year but nothing ever came of it a)asked for someone on Middleby 3.try to arrange a meeting as follow-up 4.Angela and Deb will draft letter and send it off B.Bridge is second priority for something to be done, trafÐc-wise but that will be 3 years from now C.will put in sidewalk on Prospect Hill D.to look for more parking 1.looking at circle since Ðelds are wetland, back will take too long to study and implement a)will need to address the trees tho, but could be done E.currently having volunteers from teachers in morning 1.may see if parents will take on again, or one day a week for a month (8:20-8:45a) 2.Roxana will make sign-up genius or google sign up sheet III.Enrollment A.no special town meeting in January, multiple proposals going to School Committee as short and long term solutions 1.Bridge parents concerned about the numbers being thrown out as capacity 2.modulars at some time during school year next year or the following year a)will be longer term modules b)Meg does prefer better quality as will likely become long term 3.the gym cannot Ðt more students for All School Morning Meeting, cafeteria will be too crowded 4.thought to build onto Harrington as can have more wings added, some Bowman kids would go there, some of Bridge to Bowman 5.5 year plan may include 7th elementary school B.School Committee meeting earlier this week 1.enrollment target of 530, but unclear how to make it smaller 2.the Committee members are talking aloud without a speciÐc plan C.Lee Noel sits on Permanent Building Committee and says the options are limit the numbers or expand the space for Bridge 1.she is concerned if we add modules will be seen as classrooms that can then house more classes instead of what Meg says as to use for specialists Next meeting Fri 1/30/15
