• Question was raised if Maureen Kavanaugh,
district data person, supports each school.
Elaine Mead explained how she has assisted
Harrington School in various areas.
• Jen Roney said Mary Ellen Dunn and the local
police would be willing to be guest speakers
and talk to parents and answer questions
• Is there another person that is available to
students if they need to talk to someone
besides the school guidance counselor? The
number of visits to the nurse is high. Metco
social worker is available when she is in the
building, but she travels between schools.
4. Parent survey - Discussion
• Group members would like to see comparative
data compared to results from 2 years ago, as
well as comments that were written by
parents.
• After data collection, the possibility of probing
into different areas will be considered.
• Discussion about whether the result of

4. Parent survey - Discussion
• Group members would like to see comparative
data compared to results from 2 years ago, as
well as comments that were written by
parents.
• After data collection, the possibility of probing
into different areas will be considered.
• Discussion about whether the result of
Satisfied is good enough or should we consider
it an area for further probing.
• Group will decide how results of the parent
survey will be disseminated to the school
community.
• Will consider a survey to be completed by
teachers
• Question of teacher /parent communication
was brought up in the areas of newsletters,
web sites etc. Not as much completed, graded
work is sent home due to curriculum
expectations (EX. Reader's workshop, Writer's
workshop, math stations etc.

• Topic of report cards
• Flyer is going home to remind families.
• Discussed what teacher representative
would attend.
6. Future Topics
• Discuss Mid -year report on School
Improvement plan by Elaine Mead — due to
Superintendent by February 1, 2015.
• Data comparison from parent survey
