Hank Manz wondering about Eagle Scout projects
Miles suggested cart path improvements towards future possible granite forest, building
up the path 6" to help drainage. Wes suggested it could be quite a bit of work and could
be up to 3 Eagle Scout projects. Could use 40 yards of gravel. Bob Barnard would
likely need to be involved
Mr Williams shared a Boston Globe articie about Governor Patrick's commission on
funding public art. Could be possible funding for granite forest. Wes will keep us
posted.
David passed around a letter from John Frey thanking Lynne for her words at Nell's
celebration

describing the overlook and new trails.
Rec Dept would like an update on our status on Jan 21st meeting at 7pm
Wendy says they would like to discuss the granite forest project in terms of budget. Rec
budget is tight but it was made clear and agreed upon by the committee that we would
not seek support.from Rec committee in the form of funding but rather positive public
comment /support
Bob Pressman says CPC has approved $880,0000 or more for 2015 TM projects. If we
want CPC money the project would likely be submitted through the Rec Dept but would
not seek Rec Dept funds. Mr Williams also mentioned that we should look for support
from the Arts council and the tree comrnittee
Wes would like us to keep poetry as a concept in mind for the granite forest. He spoke
with poet Robert Pinsky about helping out. Pinsky has done this type of thing before in
California. Wes was hoping for a referral from Pinsky. Cindy mentioned Cary Library as
a starting point. Wes mentioned possibly doing the engraving over time. It was
discussed to put a new committee together to look at options. Wes mentioned that the
path through the granite forest would be ADA compliant.
Miles is very excited about the Spring plantings.
Wes mentioned doing fruit plants, blackberries, blueberries etc.
