1. The Meeting Minutes from the January 8th, 2015 meeting were approved by the
commission.
2. We first discussed the Cotting School Trip. Karen has been in touch with the director
over at Cotting and has concluded that we will be doing the Birthday Boxes in addition to
the Book Drive. The Birthday Box meetup with the Cotting students will be Friday
March 27th from 10:00 to 11:30. Please check your schedules and let me know if you
can attend; 3rd Term ends March 6th. We need to let Cotting know how many are able
to attend, they match us up 1 on 1, or 2 on 1. The Book Drive will consist of collection
spots at Arlex and Sunoco., and possibly LHS. Andrea, Ashley, Janelle and Vanessa
will be decorating the boxes. Andrea is going to put notices into the local newspapers and
potentially the LHS homeroom announcements.
3. The Valentines Lunch was a success. We didn't have many people there but it worked out
well. We got to sit down one on one with the seniors and talk to them. The director of it
was very impressed with the Commission.
4. I have attached thank you notes from holiday gift card recipients. Our hard work and
dedication does reap rewards.
5. We decided on a theme for the Patriots day float. It will be a Family Feud theme,
consisting of the projects we do to help the town. Renderings of it will be up on the
Facebook page and emailed out shortly! We usually have two to three "build the float"
dates that will be selected prior to the weekend of the 17- and 18,h of April. The final
touches are done the Friday/Saturday before the parade on Monday the 20-. We will need
LYC participation for the actual parade to walk with the float and hand out flags. The
usual number of attendees is between 15 and 20, we would certainly like to have as many
as possible, this year people will ride on the float as game show host and participates
6. Looking ahead we have the rest of the meetings that should already be on everyone's
calendars as well as the Senior Send Off and LYC Island Clean Up on May 7th.
The final three meetings will be held at the LHS Commons II, at 7:00 pm until
8:OOpm. The dates are March 12,April 9. (May 7th is at the LYC Island)
Respectfully Submitted,
Mark Solomon- Lexington Youth Commission Secretary
