MembersPresent:ChrisFiladoro(PublicGroundsSuperintendent,TreeWarden),JohnFrey(Chair),Anne Senning,JewelKuljian,GerryPaul,JimWood MembersAbsent:SelectmenLiaison,KarenLongeteig 1.JimWoodwasappointedasscribe,andtheminutesofNovember13,2014werereviewedand approvedasmodified. 2.ChrisFiladoropresentedacomprehensivereportonTreeRemovalapplicationsandactivity(attachedto theseminutes). 3.ChrisFiladoroandDaveLefCourt(CityArborist,Cambridge)havetalkedaboutcontractorstohireto completethetreeinventoryandwillmeettofurtherexploreoptions. 4.ChrisFiladororeportedthattheFallPlanting2014willbecompletedtoday,Dec11,2014.Atotalof68 treeswereplantedincluding15IronwoodatAntonyPark(anewsectioninTowerPark,Massachusetts Avenue). 5.SpringPlantingJimWoodwillobtainandforwardupdatedlistsfromBaileysand{ĭŷźĭŷƷĻƌ͸ƭ͵Inaddition hewillcontactDouglasTallamy,authorofͻ.ƩźƓŭźƓŭNatureIƚƒĻͼforhisrecommendations,givenall thecurrentdiseasesandpestsattackingourtrees. 6.AnneSenningshowedusthebrochureshepreparedforͻ!CelebrationofNell‘ğƌƉĻƩ͸ƭLifeandher contributionstotheTownof\[ĻǣźƓŭƷƚƓ͵ͼThecelebrationwillbeheldonDec.12,2014,attheSamuel HadleyPublicServicesBuilding,201BedfordSt.,Lexington,MA. 7.LincolnParkwillreceivegraniteblocksfromthehomefoundationthatwasadjacenttotheoldDana Home.Thesewillbelocatedinthemeadowareaalongthepath.TheTreeCommitteeisbeingasked toparticipatewiththeselection,obtainingandplantingoftreesinthisarea.Wewillparticipatebut willneedtoworkwiththeLincolnParkpeopletodetermineourlevelofcommitment. 8.ReplacementofLargeBeechinfrontofVisitorsCenter:KarenLongeteig,JohnFrey,andJimWoodmet onsitetogatherinformationandmakerecommendationstotheTreeCommittee.KarenLongeteig submittedourreportonDec5,2014.Inbrief,theBeechistoofargonetobesavedandshouldbe removedinitsentiretyandreplacedbyanAmericanSycamore.InadditionKarenwilldrawupaplan foradditionaltreestolendformtotheareaandtheadditionofsomestreettrees.MattFoti recommendedweavoidplantingCornusFloridaastheyareextremelysusceptibletoAnthracnoseand wouldrequireyearlyspraying. 9.GerryPaulspokewithMarkValentioftheDPWaboutthecurrentsidewalkreplacementpolicy,whichis toreplaceexactlywhatwastheretomitigatediscussionwithhomeowners.Gerry(andtheTree Committee)wantasidewalkpolicythatleavesopportunityfortreeplantingwhenreplacement sidewalkisputdown.MarkValentiwillspeakwithDavePinsonneaultandBillHadleyaboutthisnew recommendation. 10.SaleofTaxLot107totheownerof26LaconiaSt.isstillanopenitem.Toourknowledgeithasnot beenplacedonthe{ĻƌĻĭƷƒĻƓ͸ƭagendaagain. 11.TreereplantingontheSouthsideofMassAveinLexingtonCenterwillbedoneintheSpringinthe samelocationsChrisFiladororeported.Wedonotknowwhatkilledtheexistingtrees.Chriswanted toknowwhatthecomponentsofstructuralsoilwereastheTreeCommitteewasinterestedintheuse ofstructuralsoilforthenewtrees.MattFotihasmaderecommendationsforthereplacementtrees. Chriswillletusknowwhatthesetreeswere. 12.Other: 1.TheWallStreetJournalhadaͻağƓƭźƚƓͼsectionintheFriday,Nov28,2014edition. IncreasedpropertyvaluesduetotreeswastheğƩƷźĭƌĻ͸ƭfocus.Wediscussedmethodsof distributingthisinformation. 2.Proposedtreeremovalat18HomesteadStreet:TheTreeCommitteeobjectedtothe removal,wroteandsignedanobjectionandprovidedittoChrisFiladoro.
