Storage bins at Lincoln Park by ballfield 1
Requested by Joanne Shorter for LUSC, at prior meeting - absent from this meeting
David W spoke with Karen Simmons, Director of Recreation, regarding this, noting this is the
only place she would allow if it were to materialize
Cindy said if we do this for one group, then should be for all, and did not support the bins
David noted that this "was not my problem"
MOTION by Brian - To NOT support putting storage bins on property, second by Lynne,- unanimous
MOTION by David to accept minutes for April 27 and May 28, 2014 second? - unanimous
David
More are using park, fitness stations, picture taking, more dogs
Bike sign missing, just pole, at edge of boardwalk at Lincoln Sign still on Worthen Rd side
Multi-flora rose needs to be dug out
Asked Partere (Miles + Wes) to update what plantings are already in park
We don't have anyone to do some maintenance- ie boardwalk repairs, signposts,etc:-
Budget update, with both years in the "market" doing well -- -
Last year's total assets = $856,000
This year's total assets now = $905 000
This year, spent $70,000
Miles
Whenever at park, he also clears up around fitness path
B Barnard's crew, works at park every other Wed and really does well, esp one worker, Tim Lyn
Will work through October, especially get more invasives and a late cut to the meadow
Distributed brochure proposal for fall, spring plantings at specific locations, for $17,000
Do some re-plantings now - choose more of what did well last year-move some plantings around
Will replace Oak Leaf Hydrangeas, (as noted as being stressed, by Wes) next spring, if needed,
as well as dead ground cover -
Will add pink Chelone Glabra (sp?) to the white that's already there, as suggested by David
Miles said he would bring 1 picture of each proposed planting
Cindy requested more of a map to show where plantings will be located
David and Miles will walk around park next week
Discussion
David noted much Rebeccia (sp?), Lynne wants to keep it, as is a fall flower
Wes suggested adding a few more plants , lesson a few others, for the same cost.
Accept proposal?, pay for just fall?, pay for fall and spring? order both at once?, if accept both, pay
for both and order spring plantings in spring
MOTION by Cindy, 2nd by Brian - accept proposal for fall, pay for fall Next meeting on site, see where
plantings will be going, then vote on spring proposal - unanimous
Brian
He has done some of the maintenance, noted by David, on his own time, voluntarily, but has concerns
about not being able to do all that is needed. David asked him to think about someone on his crew who
might"moonlight". Brian said he'd think about it, as has concerns.
He will order another two signs, same as Worthen Road one, check the post/see if ok, or order another
Lynne'
Most all focus has been on the mound area. Now need to focus on Worthen Road bike path, invasives in
other areas, by the Overlook (which initially cost$175,000), and generally need more color.
The close range plaques need to be cleaned and then need to be put back up
Discuss long range plans at next meeting.
