The first item on the agenda was a discussion of the bathroom opening and who should be on the list of invitees. David and Cindy will address and mail the invitations. David has ordered 100 invitations. The program will include welcoming comments and a brief history of the park and bathrooms. Brian Kelley will then thank the donors and especially the Lexington Lions Club members, Dick Perry, Alan Wrigley and Doug Lucente. Lynne and Brian will unveil the plaque. The opening has been rescheduled for June 17 at 7 pm. Brian said that the irrigation is not yet turned on and will be needed for the landscaping at the bathroom. Joanne told the group that Lexington Youth Soccer wants to install a storage shed. The Committee discussed the request but agreed that the Recreation Committee should make this decision. It will be a problem if all sports groups request a storage bin or shed. Brian has staked the locations of the signs, and they will be installed on May 28. The Minutes of April 28 were read and corrected. They were approved as amended. Lynne will make the changes before they are submitted. -There was some discussion of Across Lexington, but no decisions were made. The meeting was adjourned at 8:20. Respectfully submitted,_.... Lynne Wilson LINCOLN PARK SUB - COMMITTEE Minutes — April 28, 2014 Committee present — David Williams, Chair, Brian Kelley, Lynne Wilson, Cindy Kuechle, Joanne Shorter Others present — Bob Barnard, Landscaper, Wendy Rudner, Recreation, M Parterre, Wesley Wirth, Landscape Architect, Rick Abrams, Across Lexirrgt Pressman, es Connors, n Across Lexington — David Williams opened the meeting at 7:30 and introd9ced Rick Abrams who gave a presentation about Across Lexington — Walking, Running and Trail Biking in Lexington. A section of the Fitness/Nature and Bike Path at Lincoln Park is included in their map. He presented their brochure and other information and asked that we work together to promote Lincoln Park as the "go to outdoor recreational facility in Lexington. He felt that there should be training for the exercise stations on our website, mileage markers along the path and reaps should be available. The committee expressed their appreciation for his presentation and will discuss this further at their next meeting. Bathrooms — Brian Kelley told the group that the irrigation needs to be tur ed on before the landscaping is done. Wes Wirth presented his cost estimate of the landsc ping needed - $14,000-$15,000. There was considerable discussion about costs and avai able money. There were three options discussed —1. Primarily grass (Brian Kelley's choice) —2. Eliminate rain garden from plan reducing the cost to approximately $11,000 — 3. As designed with rain garden, approximately $15,000. This doesn't include irrigation. The comerI ittee VOTED on each option. Option 1— one in favor (Brian Kelley) and five against. Option 2 — iiynne Wilson and Joanne Shorter in favor — four against. Option 3 — David Williams, Bobj Presman and Cindy Kuechle in favor and three against. Therefore, the landscape as designed ith the rain garden will be installed. Wesley will provide a complete cost including site prepar tion to the committee. He will also talk to Chris Filadoro to let him know about the p1 nned plantings and ask about the irrigation. Permanent signs for Men and Women will be installed. The donor sign will be installed as soon as the Town signs off on the construction. Tit formal Opening will be JUNE 14 at 10 am. Bathrooms will be landscaped in May prior to the opening. Signs -- Brian told the committee that the three information signs are complete and will be installed as soon as he is able to do so. Bob Barnard was asked to give the committee an estimate for widening the path along Worthen Road. The March 25, 2014 minutes were accepted as written. The next meeting will be May 27 at 7 pm. The meeting was adjourned at 9 :40. Respectfully submitted, Lincoln Park Sub - committee - September 4, 2014 Present: David Williams, Lynne Wilson, Brian Kelley, Robert Pressman, Cindy Kuechle, Miles Connor, Parterre, Wesley Wirth, Wirth Associates, Wendy Rudner, liaison Storage bins at Lincoln Park by ballfield 1: Requested by Joanne Shorter for LUSC, at prior meeting - absent from this meeting David W. spoke with Karen Simmons, Director of Recreation, regarding this, noting this is the only place she would allow if it were to materialize. Cindy said if we do this for one group,then should be for all, and did not support the bins. David noted that this "was not my problem ". MOTION by Brian - To NOT support putting storage bins on property, second by Lynne,- unanimous MOTION by David to accept minutes for April 27 and May 28, 2014. second? - unanimous David: More are using park, fitness stations, picture taking, more dogs Bike sign missing, just pole, at edge of boardwalk at Lincoln. Sign still on Worthen Rd. side Multi -flora rose needs to be dug out Asked Partere (Miles + Wes) to update what plantings are already in park We don't have anyone to do some maintenance: ie. boardwalk- repairs, signposts,etc: -. Budget update, with both years in the `-`marker doing well: Last year's total assets = $856,000. This year's total assets now = $905.000. This year, spent $70,000. Miles: Whenever at park, he also clears up around .fitness path B. Barnard's crew, works at park every other Wed. and really does well, esp. one worker, Tim Lyn Will work through October, especially get more invasives and a late cut to the meadow Distributed brochure proposal for fail, spring plantings at specific locations, for $17,000.: Do some re- plantings now - choose more of what did well last year -move some plantings around Will replace Oak Leaf Hydrangeas, (as noted as being stressed, by Wes) next spring, if needed, as well as dead ground cover. _ __ Will add pink Chelone Glabra (sp ?) to the white that's already there, as suggested by David Miles said he would bring 1 picture of each proposed planting Cindy requested more of a map to show where plantings will be located David and Miles will walk around park next week Discussion: David noted much Rebeccia (sp ?), Lynne wants to keep it, as is a fall flower Wes suggested adding a few more plants , lesson a few others, for the same cost. Accept proposal ?, pay for just fall ?, pay for fall and spring? order both at once ?, if accept both, pay for both and order spring plantings in spring. MOTION: by Cindy, 2nd by Brian - accept proposal for fall, pay for fall. Next meeting on site, see where plantings will be going, then vote on spring proposal. - unanimous Brian; He has done some of the maintenance, noted by David, on his own time, voluntarily, but has concerns about not being able to do all that is needed. David asked him to think about someone on his crew who might "moonlight". Brian said he'd think about it, as has concerns. He will order another two signs, same as Worthen Road one, check the post/ see if ok, or order another Lynne: Most all focus has been on the mound area. Now need to focus on Worthen Road bike path, invasives in other areas, by the Overlook (which initially cost $175,000), and generally need more color. The close range plaques need to be cleaned and then need to be put back up Discuss long range plans at next meeting.
