Reenactment:Thenewlightingwasatremendoushelptotheticketcollectorsandthose whowereapplyingwristbandstoguests. Thenewmetalfencesdidamuchbetterjobofcrowdcontrolthanthetraditionalribbon suspendedfrompoles. Thereviewingstandwasnotfirmlysecured.Ittiltedandrolledwhilecarryinganover capacitycrowd,causingarealsafetyhazard.Thismustbelookedintobeforenextyear. Thereenactmentcrowdseemedlighterthaninprioryears,probablyduetothe concentrationofpublicityontheMarathon.Thecrowdfortheafternoonparade increasedtoformeryearlevels. Morningceremony:Anumberofpeoplebegancrowdinginatthepodiumareaduringthe morningceremony.Weneedtodevelopandimplementacrowdcontrolplanforthis event. TheWilliamDiamondFifeandDrumCompanyhaveinquiredaboutplayingamusical interludeduringtheceremony. Afternoonparade:twoParadeAmbassadorteamswereobservedmarchinginfrontofthe sameunit.Oneoftheteamswasoriginallyassignedtomarchintherearofthisunit. Therewasapossibilitythatoneofthesponsorswasdisappointedwiththecoveragehe receivedbythisarrangement.SuzieBarrywilldiscussthiswithhimandofferarefundif necessary. Thispointsoutthevalueofhavingourownvideographertodocumenttheparadefrom starttofinish,notonlytocreateahistoricrecordbuttoresolveissuesthatmayarise. The4RegimentofFootshowedupwithouthavingpreviouslyregistered.Theyclaimed th theyregisteredbeforethedeadlinebuttheformwassenttothewrongaddress.They proceededtomarchwiththeFirstRegimentofFootwithanunknownnumberof marchersandarenowrequestingreceiptoftheirregularpayment. Suziefeltthattheunitsweretootightlybunchedtogetherastheyapproachedthe reviewingstand.Wemightconsiderinsertingsomeonehalfwayintotheparadenextyear inordertoslowtheunitsdown. FortynineParadeAmbassadorscarried22sponsorbanners.Theywere39%adults,33% age1517,and28%age1114.Theywereprettyevenlydividedbetweenprevious Ambassadorsandfriendstheyhadrecruited(38%)andbrandnewAmbassadors marchingforthefirsttime(43%)withsponsorssupplyingtherest.Threequartersof themcameinalreadyformedasateam.Theywere40%femaleand60%male.All Ambassadorswereintheirassignedplacesby1:50p.m. Becauseofthetemperature,weranoutofwaterearly.Itwouldprobablybebetterto havemore8oz.bottlesandfewer12or16oz.bottlesnextyear.Jugsreallyªµ´ȟºwork verywell. Nearlyalltheunits(8590%)werecheckedinbefore1:00.Theywerehungry,theyhad timetospare,andtheywerelookingforsomewheretoeatlunch. MuzzeyHousemaybeagoodsourceofvolunteersforParadeAmbassadorsnextyear.
