Reports:
Ginna Johnson will be the new Planning Board liaison to the GCC.
Grain Mill Alley (Peggy) – There will be a meeting October 2 to update the
Historic Society on this project, of turning the area next to Bank of America,
formerly a roadway, into a parklet. Of the original four plans submitted, two
remain. Further discussion will be held later in October. Peggy will continue to
follow this.
Healthy Communities Grant (Peggy) - $3000.00 was granted for development
and printing of ACROSS Lexington maps. The same amount was granted for
bikeway maps. The funds need to be used by June 2015.
(GCC also has CPA funds for maps, and Rick’s Trust.)
Transportation Forum – next meeting, October 15, 9:00am, Selectmen’s Meeting
Room.
Memorial to Rick Abrams (Keith) – Keith has emailed Joe Pato, Selectboard
Chair, and will submit a petition to formally rename ACROSS Lexington the “Rick
Abrams Memorial ACROSS Lexington Network”.
Bob will read the application at the Selectboard meeting Oct. 20 to make the
formal request.
Susan Kenyon (Rick’s widow) would like a memorial walk to take place on Route
C at some future date.
Rick had a stockpile of maps that Susan handed off to Karen Mullins. Eileen will
pick them up and take them to the Library and the Visitor Center.
Current Business:
Present Route C schedule – Don, Eileen, Peggy, Bob and Alex walked Route C
on Sept. 26 and flagged post locations. Don kept a numbered chart to keep track
of markers needed at each location.
We have enough signs to mark the new route. Mike is working on signs that will
be used in the Arlington areas, now that Arlington has given us the necessary
permissions.
Posts need to be ordered and cut. Don will follow up with Dave Pinsonneault.
Karen needs to be kept in the loop as she is custodian of the funds. Mike will
confirm post locations. We’ll want 4x6 posts for Arlington signs.
Eileen will order route letter stickers.
Keith will notify Stewards when posts are ready for sinking, will get hardware.
The signs in Arlington will be similar – the blue tricorn hat – but will have text
indicating entrance to Arlington property. (This is because the Arlington Great
Meadow and Arlington Reservoir are owned by the Town of Arlington, even
though they are in the Town of Lexington.)
New Business:
Discussion was held regarding a potential GCC member. Keith will follow up.
Discussion of changing day and/or time of GCC meetings for 2015. No
consensus immediately – will discuss further at October meeting.
November 5 Planning Meeting – postponed due to incompletion of Routes C and
D. Mike, Eileen and Alex will meet in November to plan agenda for a
winter/spring Planning session.
Walking Route D – meet Friday, Oct 3, 9:30am at Johnson Rd.
Next Meeting
: October 27, 4:30-6:00pm, Selectmen’s Meeting Room
Remaining 2014 Meeting Dates: November 24, December 15
Pending Matters:
- Martingale Rd access to open space bordering Pine Meadows Golf Club
- Conservation Restriction Data Base
- Field Work on West Lexington Greenway
