The minutes of April 28 and May 27 were approved as written. Sports bins - There was some discussion about the request by youth soccer to allow bins for sports equipment at Lincoln Park. The Committee felt that, since the Recreation Committee has control over the areas abutting the fields, they should make the decision about bins on these areas. However, the Lincoln Park Sub - Committee does not support putting recreational sports bins on land that they have developed and are still developing as a fitness /nature park. The minutes of April 28 and May 27 were approved as written. David commented that he sees increased usage of the nature areas with people taking pictures and using the fitness stations. Miles told the group that they are trying to keep the pads clean at the fitness stations. However, we need signs that say "no bike riding" on the boardwalk since it is dangerous for both bikers and other users. David complimented Bob Barnard's crew who work at the park. Miles agreed with him and said that they will work until the end of October. The meadow will be cut as late as possible. Boardwalk and sign maintenance — David explained that there was an ongoing problem maintaining both the signage and the boardwalk. Brian has been generous with his time, but we shouldn't be depending on him. The boardwalk is heaving in several places. Brian will look for someone to help with maintenance. Wesley told the committee that the rain garden at the bathrooms had some problems that are now resolved. The Hydrangeas are stressed and will be replaced next year if needed. There are some other issues with the plantings at the new bathrooms which will be taken care of in the spring if necessary. Finances — David updated the group saying that last year at this time we had $856,000. This year we have $905,000 although we have spent about $70,000 in the past year. At his request, Parterre has given us a proposal for additional plantings. Miles explained the fall planting proposals — Meadow and Azalea bed. There was a discussion about both the fall and spring proposals. Cindy MOVED to accept the two proposals for fall plantings. Brian SECONDED the motion and it PASSED unanimously. There was further discussion about the entire path including the overlook. No decisions were made. The next meeting will be October 2, 2014, at 2 pm at the path. The meeting was adjourned at 5:25 pm. Respectfully submitted,
