Senior Parking Sticker Program (SPSP) Proposal Review
In an effort to understand concerns, questions, and support from others in Lexington regarding
offering a SPSP to Lexington seniors we have reached out to key town groups and officials,
including: members of the Select Board, Police Chief Corr, members of the Parking
Management Group and Center Committee.
During these meeting both support for the program and concerns were raised by various
townspeople.
The FCOA is enthusiastic about the program, will write a letter of support.
Police Chief Corr sees no administrative issues in management or enforcement of the
program and has agreed to write such a letter.
Concerns raised by some members of the PMG and Lexington Center Committee included:
A lack of need demonstrated for the program
The SPSP will have a negative effect on the existing Parking Management Program
There is no way to enforce the time limit
Age 65 is too young
Permit should not be distributed to every resident at age 65
If the SPSP does not work as planned, it will be difficult to rescind
Next Steps
Julie will put together a memo addressing the concerns discussed. Members of the committee
will send any suggestions to her.
Julie and Betty will discuss next steps with SB liaison Susie Barry
Senior Parking Program draft will be reviewed for approval by COA at April meeting
Meeting adjourned at 4 PM
