HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-10-09-YC-min Town of Lexington Lexington Youth Commission th Minutes of the meeting held on Thursday, October 9, 2014 at the Lexington DPW Members Present: Debbie Hankins, Doug Lucente, Shannon DeGuglielmo, Karen Duprey, Joey Hankins, Sean Maloney, Janelle Franklin, Vanessa Savage, Mark Solomon, Andrea Michelson, James Laurenzi, Ben Leibskind, Gillian Goolkasian, Elizabeth Coons, Annie Douvas, John Mullen, Ilise Martel, Lee Katz, Andrew Thomas, Ryan Buschini, Avery Gehring, Will Thomas amd Courtney Walsh Members Absent: Chris Grant, Thomas Barry, Becca Denning, Shaun McLaughlin, Emma Berman, Nic Fusco, Rachael Michelson, Joe Lahiff and John Lahiff 1.The Meeting Minutes from the previous meeting were approved by the commission. 2.The candy bags were distributed. Each bag has 40 pieces of candy which are to be sold at $1 each. The money will be collected at the next meeting. If you were not present, you can contact Deb about picking up your bag. JOE AND JOHN LAHIFF GO PICK UP YOUR BAGS AT DEB HANKIN’S. st 3.The Halloween decorating on October 31 was explained. Members who are attending will meet in the LHS quad at 11:00 and walk up to Brookline Bank in the center. It will go on from 11:00 until 12:30. Members will be expected to hang up balloons at different stores that are participating in the Trick-or-Treating. Members that are attending are: Annie, Andrea, Janelle, Vanessa, James, Avery, Ben and Elizabeth. Maybes are: Gillian and Ilise. MEMBERS ABSENT – WE ARE IN NEED OF MORE PEOPLE, CAN YOU ATTEND THIS EVENT? Last year we had 15 people participate, taking over an hour, we currently have 8. 4.The t-shirts and sweatshirts were distributed. If you forgot to pay, please bring the money to the next meeting. T-shirts are $10 and sweatshirts are $35. 5.We began discussing the Turkey Dinner Drive, the Tree Lighting, and the fundraising at Ace and Sonoco. The signups for these will be at the next meeting. The Turkey Dinner Drive will consist of approximately 30 dinners that need to be distributed around the town. We will need 4 or 5 member who will need to drive. Sean made the protocol for this very clear: You do not discuss where or who you deliver the dinners to because of confidentiality issues. The Tree Lighting and the fundraising at Ace and th,thth Sunoco will take place on December 5 6 and 7 and we will be raising money for th Lexington families in need. On the 6, we might also participate in a Santa Meet and th Greet on the 6 where we would sell baked goods or cider. This will be further discussed next meeting. 6.Please note the location change for next meeting. It will be held in Commons 2 at th LHS on November 13 at 7:00.
