Rick Abrams ACROSS Lexington Trail System
Reports & Updates:
Transportation Forum: Scheduled for June 11, postponed until June 24.
Open Space and Recreation Plan update: Progress is slow; proposals by VHB and
one other entity are being considered. If you have suggestions for the update,
email Eileen by mid-July. Emily Schadler is chairing the selection Committee.
This is a good opportunity for the GCC to get a say in planning and make a push
for connectivity and the trail system.
Burlington Canyon: Paul has had conversation with Joe Desmond, a canyon
abutter on North St, and member of the Middlesex Greenway Coalition.
Healthy Communities Grant: Funds were awarded to print more maps for
ACROSS Lexington. It was unclear to those at the meeting which agency, of
several on the application, was the recipient of the funds.
Current Business Review:
Route C: Karen Mullins is now Ñon boardÒ with the idea of using Orchard Lane
as an access point for the next ACROSS route. Permission will be needed from
the Conservation Commission and abutters will need to be contacted.
Regarding signage denoting the ACROSS entrances to Town of Arlington
property Ï once the Arlington Conservation Commission approves the signs, the
proposal will be sent to the Board of Selectmen. Karen will monitor this.
We should be ready to put in signs once approval is given. This will include
meeting with Dave Pinsonneault regarding DigSafe and street crossings.
We had a brief conversation about the possibility of completing Route D before
Route C, since we do not need permissions from Arlington. It was decided that it
was probably better to wait on Arlington and go Ñin orderÒ.
Money for the signs has already been set aside and there is money in the next FY
budget for posts. The logo signs are in RickÔs garage.
If necessary, we can schedule a special meeting to work on the Arlington signage
situation. A weekÔs notice is needed for a public meeting, and we would need a
quorum of 5 GCC members.
New Business:
Fall Ñworking sessionÒ meeting: November 5 was chosen as the date for a special
planning meeting of the GCC, from 4:30-8:30pm.
Eileen, Mike and Alex will create an agenda.
We will consider our original mission statement, our annual Board of Selectmen
reports, and RickÔs presentation as we consider our long-term goals, objectives
and priorities.
Annual maintenance for ACROSS routes can take place in the fall since the
spring is so busy.
Pocket Park development Ï is Peggy involved?
