HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-08-07-HDC-min PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION Minutes of Thursday, August 7, 2014, Selectman’s Meeting Room, Lexington Town Offices, 1625 Massachusetts Avenue at 7:00PM Commissioners present: Lynn Hopkins, Paul Ross and Robert Warshawer Associate Commissioners: Marilyn Fenollosa, B. McCarthy Department Clerk: Linda Rainville 7:00 PM 49 Follen Road : Kelley Donahue presented plans to replace 25 aluminum windows with vinyl/wood composite windows Vote: 3 in favor, 2 opposed 2015C-01 7:10 PM 905 Massachusetts Avenue : Michael Kraley and Carl Oldenburg showed the Commission plans for the vestibule on the side entry door. They presented plans for the entrance way to the apartment. The landing stairs will be granite. Alterations to the garage included replacing the fake hayloft door with a window (matching the window on the side). The garage is presently a 2 car garage and will be expanded to a three car garage (third bay will be pushed back). The brick patio will be expanded. They will install slate chimney caps and copper gutters. All in Favor 2015C-02 7:15 PM 11 Bloomfield Street : John Sterman showed the Commission plans for a deep energy retrofit. This project will include: Installing solar panels (35 sun power black panels). Replacing windows with wood windows (double glazed). The third floor will have two egress compliant casement windows installed. Replacing the front door with a six panel wood door. The Dutch Colonial design will be changed to Colonial All in Favor 2015C-03 7:25 PM 2101 Massachusetts Avenue : Mariellen Rodman, showed plans to replace a basement window with a simulated divided light (3 wide/2 high) Awning/wood window, painted white to match other windows. Replacement of the garage door awning will be a copper awning with supports to match what is existing. The stucco portion of the siding will be replaced with stone veneer (Boston Blend and Colonial Blend). The stairs will be rebuilt. A Rod Iron Railing (painted black) will be installed on the stairway. The replacement windows and the stonework were approved. She will come back with more information regarding the stairs and the garage awning. All in Favor 2015C-04 7:30 PM 1656 Massachusetts Avenue : Kristin Smith asked the Commission to approve a blade sign to be mounted on the railing. The sign would be Ivory with black letters. She would like the Blade sign to be placed on the railing of the stairway. The Commission asked her to come back with pictures of a “mock” sign. Continued to next meeting 7:40 PM 40 Hancock Street : Jane Williamson,exterior architectural changes in the Hancock Clarke District Canceled by homeowner 7:50 PM 964 Massachusetts Avenue : David Vendetti presented plans for installing a 28x15x48 above ground pool. All in Favor 2015C-05 8:00 PM 1775 and 1761 Massachusetts Avenue : Eden Dutcher presented plans of suggested usage of the area ie: Suggestion box, picnic tables, child playground items, etc. Continued to next meeting CONTINUED HEARINGS 19 Muzzey Street: Jeffrey Lyons, returned to show the Commission plans to replace the commercial grade front door and a side door. The front door will be a metal door centered with 2 skylights and transom. The side door will be a clad door painted green. All in Favor 2015C-06 13 Bedford Street: Colin Smith presented plans for a side addition of an enclosed porch on the first floor and a screened in porch on the second floor. Continued to next meeting 10 Lockwood Road : Henry Bratcher,did not appear 1605 Massachusetts Avenue (Cary Hall): John Texeira presented information regarding the “Nauset” sign to be posted on the fence in front of Cary Hall. All in Favor 2015C-07 INFORMAL HEARINGS 847 Massachusetts Avenue: Colin Smith presented plans for a two family home, two car garage and mudroom and front porch repair. The Commission is happy with the concept. 4-6 Pleasant Street: Ron O’Brien presented plans to repair the porch on the first floor and second floor. 935 Massachusetts Avenue: John & Judith Denis exterior architectural changes in the East Village District no one appeared. Minutes from July 10, 2014 approved with one amendment.
