Lexington Housing Partnership MeetingMinutesforMay1,2014 Attendees:MelindaWalker,JoePato,NancyCorcoranRonchetti,JeriFoutter,HarrietCohen,Wendy Manz,MaryHaskell,BetseyWeiss ThemeetingwaschairedbyBetseyWeissandtheminutesweretakenbyHarrietCohen.Themeeting wascalledtoorderat7:39pm. 7,2014 1.Busa\[ĻǣI!.ƭ6unitspassedTMonApril TheLHPnotedthepassageofthe6LexHabaffordablehousingunitsontheBusapropertyatTown Meeting.ThePartnershipwasgratifiedbythenumberofspeakerswhovoicedsupportforthehousing. 2.Discuss/findthreerecommendationsfromtheHPPtosendtotheBOSfor6/19BoSGoalSetting Meeting AttheLHPmeetingonThursdayevening,theattendeesagreedthatwewouldprovideasetof3to5 recommendationstotheBoardofSelectmeninconjunctionwiththeHousingProductionPlan.The LHPproposedfourrecommendationsforconsideration.Theycanbesummarizedasfollows: ImplementplansaspreviouslysubmittedforLeary(andincludeURL) LexingtonhasnotidentifiedopportunitiesforTowncreatedaffordablehousingbeyondthe developmentoftheLearyproperty.Thismeansthataffordablehousinggrowthwillnotkeepup withthegrowthinmarketratehouses,andwillfallbelowthe10%thresholdspecifiedin Chapter40B.Hence,ourrecommendationis: Assessthefeasibilityofbuyingahousewithalargelot,spendingintherangeof$500$750K andputtingasmallclusterofaffordablehousingunitsonthelot.Thiswouldbeamultiyear developmenteffort. Exploreoptionsfordenserhousingdevelopment,forexample,forseniorhousing.
