HomeMy WebLinkAbout1998-11-06-2020-min (Initiating Committee) Initiating Committee November 6, 1998 Minutes Members present: Peter Enrich, Chuck Benson, Helen Cohen, Clark Cowen, Robin Digiammarino, Alan Lazarus, Fred Merrill, Peggy Perry, Marjorie Platt, Fernando Quezada Staff Support present: Beth Anne Sobieszczyk, Michael Baker Call to Order Citizen Participation Sub-Committee : Issue –Demographic Representation discussed need for broad group representation and need for efforts to capture them inclusion of service groups get homemakers involved residents and businesses that aren’t yet here Process Creating Subcommittee (devised a monthly description of the process) visual for town to view the entire process task 3 comes too late define process into concrete steps in order to generate more interest and understanding of the process Issues – Subcommittee Formation various issue-oriented groups (i.e. older community, religious groups) based on their interests. May toy with the idea of deliberate movement of members into other groups on a rotating basis needs definitions of “stakeholders groups” (broad based assembly of residents) and “subcommittees” or “working groups” (issues oriented groups, meet for smaller periods) - subcommittees with specific agenda that represent broader issues affecting the town comprised of various town representatives, recruited subcommittee chair who will lead meeting and write short and concise documents along the way. work done by working groups, sets of task forces: identify issues work on these issues identify congruent problems Steering Committee makes the process work work with working groups to keep them on task and prevent conflicts guide the entire process 1 member of Steering Committee at each Working Group meeting to represent the working group at Steering Committee meetings if people are not chosen for the Steering Committee, they may be placed on a Working Group
