Minutes of Meeting of April 1, 2014 FINAL
A meeting of the Ad hoc Community Center Advisory Committee Programs Group was held
on Tuesday, April 1, 2014 at 1:00 PM in theReed Room at the Town Office Building, 1625
Massachusetts Avenue. A quorum of 6 was present.
Members Present: Laura Hussong, Chair; Sheila Butts (Assistant Director, Recreation Department),
Jon Himmel, Florence Koplow, Charlotte Rodgers (Director, Human Services Department), Karen
Simmons (Director, Recreation Department)
Members Absent: Leslie Zales
Also present: Craig Hall, Director, Lexington Community Education
Meeting called to order at 1:10 PM
1.Objectives:
Discussed what we are to accomplish, what other groups we should include, and
when they should be included. We will first work on consolidating the Recreation
Department/Human Services programming matrix, the list of desired programs compiled from the
Community Center Task Force (CCTF) survey, and the list of desired new programs Recreation
provided to CCTF into an augmented program matrix.
2.Procedures:
Discussion of how we might proceed to organize all the possible programs we have
thus far identified, as well as those we are not yet aware of. We all noted that there is a very
strong relationship between governance policy and program prioritization. First we will collect
all the programs and categorize them functionally, and then look at what is possible/desirable
without yet considering policy.
3.Schedule:
We want to schedule a regular schedule of meetings going forward but will not do that
until other stakeholders are present. We will schedule meetings one at a time for now.
4.Future Meetings:
The next meeting is on Monday, April 14, 2014 from 10:00 - 11:30 AM in the
Parker Room (G-15) of the Town Office Building, 1625 Massachusetts Avenue.
Meeting adjourned at 2:20 PM.
