A meeting of the was held on Wednesday, March 19, 2014 in the Legion Room of Cary Memorial Hall
Members Present: John McWeeney, Bruce Embry, Narain Bhatia, Sig Tullman, Joe Pato, Peter Kelley
Others: Melisa Tintocalis, Don Briggs, Charles Hornig
Members Absent: Bob Richards, Rick DeAngelis, Larry Smith, Bruce Embry, Kevin McGuire

The meeting was called to order at 8:05a.m. The meeting lacked a quorum but discussed the following items:
Approve previous minutes:
no minutes approved; the February meeting was cancelled
Presentation & discussion on Assembly Square:
Don Briggs, a Lexington resident and Senior VP of
Federal Realty Investment Trust presented his experience developing the Assembly Row site in
Somerville. He shared the evolving nature of retail and retail’s need to focus on experiences of the
beyond the basic transaction.
Report from Planning Board liaison
: Charles Hornig reported that the Planning Board’s Town
Meeting article would recommend that Medical Marijuana Use be placed in the Commercial
Manufacturing “CM” zone which is primarily the Hartwell Corridor. John McWeeney said if the state
is requiring this, then the CM district would be suitable. The committee agreed and said that ultimately
it would be the choice the property owner to tenant the use.
Discuss Updating the Economic Development Element of the Comprehensive Plan:
Melisa
Tintocalis said that she has discussed with Planning staff the concept of updating the Economic
Development element of the Comprehensive Plan. John McWeeney encouraged members to review
the current ED Element and bring back input at the next meeting.
Update on Hartwell Avenue Activities:
Melisa said the REV shuttle has seen an increase in ridership.
Discuss position on jug handle improvements:
John summarized the proposal to improve the
landscape at the jug handle.
