Family Engagement Goal 3 — Feedback and * Fall conferences @ 99% participation Questions 0 PTA open dialogue o Let's Chat series: should we have a Let's Chat about what we learned from Jerry Shultz. Faculty is doing a survey about what we have learned. 0 Possible topics: Placement? The hiring process? Everyday Math strategies? Council member felt Math would be well received. Safety and Security? 0 Ms Mead discussed the adoption of ALICE for Security. COUTICil member felt this trainiing should be automatic like a fire drill. The focus is on evacuation. Instructions are very clear and direct. Ms Mead shared that our evacuation has become very efficient. 0 Ms Mead and staff can send out ernails to either the whole or part of the Harrington community. Updat el Suggestion B1 5. Future Agendas., April — District Goals — drafting School Improvement Goals and Implementation Plan for 2014-2015 0 The box is not being used very much, but what has been in it has been praise. Families, in, the community feel there is a lot of outreach to, the community. Council member rnade the suggestion that the supaestion box be on line. • Safety and plan for Let's Chat. Hovv will we craft our feedback system • Ms Mead Suggested a discussion of our transient population. Should we create a protocol and checklist for the needs of this population? What do we do academically, socially to reach out to these parents? Council member shared that a welcome kit is given to new families. Assistant principal has written a grant for hand held translators, Should Let's Chat will be about Placement? We need to make it valuable for each, grade level. Possible date — May 2, 2014. Last Let's Chat had a very good turnout® Ten families were represented. Item 1, Create a Let's Chat about placement for the May 2 meeting. Include teachers (classroom and resource) and guidance. 2. Send out District Goals: they are aligned with school goals 1. Map out plans for Let's Chat series for 2014-2015 2. Should we re -do, the survey? 3. Could we survey the "new comers?" 4.
