HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-02-25-SLC-min Town of Lexington Sustainable Lexington Committee Minutes of Meeting of February 25, 2014 A meeting of the Sustainable Lexington Committee (SLC) was held on February 25, 2014 at Cary Hall. A quorum of four was present. Members Present: Mark Sandeen, Chair Rick Abrams, Rick Reibstein, Todd Rhodes Members Absent: Sheryl Rosner, Dan Voss Other Attendees: Joe Pato The meeting was called to order at 7:00 pm. Presentation to the Board of Selectmen Mr. Sandeen provided an overview of his presentation to the Board of Selectmen. The following were identified as important follow activities: Aggregation Task Force o Water Task Force o Greening of Historic Homes o Mr. Sandeen will meet with members of the Historic District Commission to discuss approaches to address improving energy efficiency of homes in the historic district. The League of Women Voters will hold a First Friday event on solar that will include representation from the Historic District Commission. Social Cost of Carbon o Energy Efficiency of Municipal Buildings Mr. Sandeen recommended that a “Summit Meeting” be held to discuss how best to ensure that building efficiency be addressed early in process when the Town is considering changes to Municipal buildings and/or the construction of new buildings. Representatives from the following committees would participate: Permanent Building Committee o Energy Committee o Sustainable Lexington Committee o The committee discussed the current plans for the Community Center and the renovation to Cary Hall and identified that opportunities to improve energy efficiency could have been addressed more thoroughly if these issues had been raised earlier in the lifecycle of these projects. Toxic Use Reduction Mr. Reibstein provided an overview of the state’s Toxic Use Reduction program.
