HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-06-05-HDC-min PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION Minutes of Thursday, June 5, 2014, Selectmen Meeting Room, Town Hall Building at 7:00PM Commissioners present: Joseph Welch, Chairman, Lynn Hopkins, Paul Ross, and Daniel Griffin Associate Commissioners: Marilyn Fenollosa, Jon Wardwell, B. Feldman, B. McCarthy Department Clerk: Linda Rainville 7:00 PM 1912 Massachusetts Avenue : Joan Rudila, spoke with the Commission regarding the landscaping around the transformer to provide screening. The foliage will be planted as soon as the irrigation system is repaired. All in Favor 2014C- Wendall Kalsow presented plans to replace windows in the back of the building. The details of the windows are similar to those on the second floor. And a request to replace the protective glazing on the stained glass to clear glass. The commission approved the protective glass on the stained glass window. Mr. Kalsow will come back with new plans for the replacement windows. All in Favor 2014C Cynthia Theriault presented plans for paving, re-striping the parking lot. They will move the gate on the fence, a new curb and landscaping as per documentation.. All in Favor 2014C- 7:05 PM 1444 Massachusetts Avenue: Gloria Wallace showed the Commission her plans for repainting her home. Paint colors are as follows: Shingles – Yellow (custom blend), Shutters – PM-12 Black Forest Greet, Door and Window sashes – PM-18 Heritage Red, Trim – White, Porch Floor – Medium Gray. All in Favor 2014C- 7:10 PM 15 Meriam Street: Robert Sacco presented plans to replace his stockade fence with a new flat- top stockade fence and post cap. All in Favor 2014C- 7:15 PM 848 Massachusetts Avenue: Jim Barr spoke with the Commission regarding the awning already installed at his business location. The Commission asked that when the awning needs to be replaced that Mr. Barr bring in drawings showing the scale of the lettering. All in Favor 2014C- CONTINUED HEARINGS Daniel Klasnick, Rob Johnson and Dan Goulet presented additional 7 Harrington Road: information regarding the windows and window frames to be installed in the steeple of the church. The frames will be replicated to look the same as it is now. Mr. Johnson showed the Commission a sample of the Dura-fiber frame and pictures of previous projects. The Commission was concerned about using Lexan for the windows. There were several questions from abutting neighbors. A special meeting will be set up to meet at the Church and see a sample of antenna in the steeple with the lighting and Lexan. INFORMAL HEARINGS 2101 Massachusetts Avenue: Mariellen Rodman, spoke with the Commission about replacing the back steps and replacing the basement windows. The Commission recommended using a casement window or an awning window rather than a double hung window. OTHER BUSINESS Signage/Awnings Minutes approved with one correction
