HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-05-01-HDC-min PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION Minutes of Thursday, May 1, 2014, Selectmen Meeting Room, Town Hall Building at 7:00PM Commissioners present: Joseph Welch, Chairman, Lynn Hopkins, Robert Warshawer, Paul Ross, and Daniel Griffin Associate Commissioners: Marilyn Fenollosa, Jon Wardwell, B. Feldman, B. McCarthy Department Clerk: Linda Rainville 7:00 PM 7 Harrington Road : Daniel Klasnick, from Verizon Wireless presented plans for a concealed wireless system to be installed at the First Parish Church. The majority of components will be inside. The condensers will be in back of the building. There will be an 8 foot fence around the generator. The generator will be on a 4’ x 8’ pad. They will replace the windows in the steeple with fiberglass. There will be no visual change. Eric Wainwright, Construction Manager, explained that the material will be RF friendly (fiberglass, acrylic, plastic resin). An antenna will be placed behind the windows, painted black. A GPS antenna will be on the back railing, extending about 12” above, painted white.The Commission asked for samples of the replacement windows and dimensions of the generator. Continued to the June meeting. 7:05 PM 2 Rowland Avenue: Robert Coyne showed the Commission plans to install an A/C compressor behind shrubbery on the side of the house. Conduit will run up the side of the house into the attic, painted to match the house. He also brought in pictures of a storm door (Brosco, ultra view, HC#155) to be installed at the front door. All in Favor 2014C-3 7:10 PM 1734 Massachusetts Avenue : Alicia Hudon, presented plans for a blade sign to be installed in front of the Jewelry store. The sign will be hung from a heavy duty black rod iron bracket. It will be hung to the right of the store at the same height as the neighboring signs. All in Favor 2014C-4 CONTINUED HEARINGS 1727 Massachusetts Avenue: Andrew Falkenstein presented changes in signage. The lights will be replaced with gooseneck lights in dark bronze. They decided not to have an awning and no Blade Sign. They will paint the water table, door and window frames brown. The steel window frames and light supports will also be painted brown. Four in favor, one opposed 2014C-5 1709 Massachusetts Avenue: Peter Darlow, exterior architectural changes in the Battle Green District. No one appeared. INFORMAL HEARINGS 1351 Massachusetts Avenue: Adina Fuller, BFE Architects, presented plans to remodel the house. The Commission liked what she was proposing. She will come back as a “Continued Hearing”. Cary Library: Mark Sandeen presented plans to install solar panels on the Library roof. The Commission liked the direction Mr. Sandeen was going. 19 Muzzey Street: Mark Sandeen, presented plans to install solar panel on the roof. The Commission made several suggestions. Mr. Sandeen will come back when he has a new plan. 40 Hancock Street: Sally DeGan, presented plans for a new dwelling. The Commission liked the plans. Ms DeGan will move forward with this project. OTHER BUSINESS Signage/Awnings Minutes approved as written
