HomeMy WebLinkAbout2014-02-06-HDC-min October 3, 2013 PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION Minutes of Thursday, February 6, 2014, Selectmen Meeting Room, Town Hall Building at 7:00PM Commissioners present: Joseph Welch, Chairman, Lynn Hopkins, Robert Warshawer, Paul Ross, Daniel Griffin Associate Commissioners: Marilyn Fenollosa, Barbara Feldman, Britta McCarthy, Jon Wardwell Department Clerk: Linda Rainville FORMAL HEARINGS 881 Massachusetts Avenue: Greg Antonoli, from Out of the Woods presented plans to convert the second floor of the detached garage structure to a guest suite. There is not change to the footprint. The garage door will have 6 rectangle panels (Design 3) – no windows. The entry door will be changed. The casement window and exterior stairway will be removed. A shed dormer will be added to the back of the building. All in favor of the changes Hastings Park Gazebo: Colin Smith presented the improvement plan for the gazebo. They will upgrade the electrical work. The grading will be modified and the handicapped access brought up to date. The will rework the railing (top and bottom rails). A new light will be installed over the landing. They will put in a brick landing and gravel path. All in favor of the changes 1605 Massachusetts Avenue: Nancy Shepard and Don Mills presented extensive plans for the renovations to be done at Cary Hall. A slide show was presented with the planned changes. The renovations will improve accessibility, replace aging building systems and make the hall more usable. Some of the changes include: front entrance ramp will be changed using existing brick (not wire cut brick); parking changes; utility changes in the back of the building; masonry repairs; HVAC system updating. CONTINUED HEARINGS 927 Massachusetts Avenue: Did not appear 19 Hancock Street: Doug Wilson brought in plans to enclose the carport. The garage is located on the back of his property. He will use wood frame fixed windows, a painted steel garage door. He will come back to a future meeting with his choice of windows and siding and a two-scale elevation drawing. 1984 Massachusetts Avenue: Ms. Kluchman presented a sample of the red cedar shingles she will use on the barn. The shingles will be left natural. All in favor of the changes INFORMAL HEARINGS 1656 Massachusetts Avenue: Colin Smith and Ken Murphy presented plans to replace the lift. There will be no power changes. It will be an Eagle Elevator. Will come back for a Formal Hearing in March. 21/21A Muzzey Road: Todd Cataldo and Sally DeGan spoke to the Commission regarding demolishing both buildings on this lot. Zoning allows residential on the second floor and commercial on the first floor. The Commission is open to hear plans of what could be built on the lot. OTHER BUSINESS Minutes approved as written
