HomeMy WebLinkAbout1989-12-18 Lighting Options Committee - Updated Charge LIGHTING OPTIONS COMMITTEE Members: 5-7 Appointed by: Board of Selectmen Length of Term: Indefinite Appointments made: September 30 Meeting Times: As needed Description: The Lighting Option Committee is charged to examine such issues in street and security lighting as energy efficiency, cost effectiveness, aesthetic value, public safety, and technical advances. The Committee is charged to review current Town policies and regulations relating to street and security lighting, review the Town lighting inventory and current expense budget, review technological advances in lighting and their applicability to the Town, and review with Boston Edison their current policies and positions relative to Town lighting. The Committee is also encouraged to confer with other municipalities and regional planning groups on their lighting practices and suggestions. The committee shall work closely with the Town’s Planning Board because of the Zoning By-Law issues that may be raised, with the Town Manager and his/her staff who oversee the current lighting program of the Town, and with the Design Advisory Group and Lexington Center Committee who both have interest in the subject and, therefore, can serve the Lighting Options Committee in an advisory role. Criteria for Membership: Members should have a background or interest in lighting technology, regulation, and policy development. Ref.: Charge adopted by the Board of Selectmen on December 18, 1989. Selectmen voted to dissolve the Lighting Options Committee at its meeting on January 18, 2006.
