EXECUTIVE SESSION
June 9, 2004
PRESENT: Selectmen: Chairman McKenna, Mrs. Krieger, Mr. Kennedy, Mr. Kelley, Mr.
Pagett; Mr. White, Town Manager; Ms. Vine, Assistant Town Manager; Ms. Hooper, Town
Clerk; and Ms. Pease, Executive Clerk.
Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted by roll call vote: Mr. Pagett, Mr. Kennedy,
Mrs. McKenna, Mrs. Krieger, and Mr. Kelley to go into executive session at 12:30 p.m. for the
purpose of litigation with no intent to resume open session.
The Board discussed the issue of having the Town Clerk part of a lawsuit against the
Commonwealth regarding same sex marriage licenses for out-of-state couples. Palmer and
Dodge is contemplating pro bono litigation and is seeking a broad cross section of communities
to join.
Before deciding whether or not to participate, the Board would like to see the draft complaint
and what other towns have agreed to sign on as plaintiffs.
Upon motion duly made and seconded, it was voted to adjourn at 1:20 p.m.
