Town of Lexington
Traffic Safety Advisory Committee
Town Meeting member wanted to know why you could not take a nght hand turn onto Bedford Street
once you entered the jug handle at Bedford St and Hartwell Ave It was stated that it is difficult
getting into the correct lane(WB on Bedford) coming out of the Boston Sports Club dunng peak
hours The jug handle road isn't wide enough for vehicles to turn nght and it would cause several
traffic issues with vehicles trying to go through the jug handle to avoid the queues on Bedford St. It
was suggested that Dave Cannon/John Livsey from the DPW consider relocating/improving the club's
driveway as part of the overall operations of this roadway
2027 Mass Ave—No Parking Sign
John Patnck spoke on behalf of the neighbors in the area regarding the No Parking Signs in front of
2027 Mass Ave With the Inn at Hastings up and running, cars are parking along Mass Ave and
several of the side streets causing traffic issues They would like to see if there was any way to have a
No Parking Sign installed at least on one side Ann Frymer described the issue where a parked vehicle
in front of the Inn would cause a vehicle traveling westbound on Mass Ave to encroach into the
exclusive left turn lane Mr Kucharsky will follow up with engmeenng to find out if all the
construction is complete and accepted by the Town and what specific regulations were required as part
of the approval process in regards to parking.
Lois Lane—Request for No Parking Signage
Resident concern is the egress and ingress to Lois Lane are hazardous due to vehicles parking on both
sides of Lois Lane Lois Lane is a public way and therefore under town junsdiction. Mr Kucharsky
will follow up with the Fire Department to see if there were any issues in terms of access by
emergency vehicles This may need to be referred to the Board of Selectman for further review
Police Traffic Safety Monthly Undates
Burlington St @ Simonds Rd Crosswalk; resident concern cars often block the site lines for the
crosswalk when parked on Burlington St to attend Kmneen's Park. TSAC recommends that bi-
directional crosswalk signs, and no parking from here to crosswalk be installed. Engmeenng would
have to determine the specific location and distance on both sides of the street.
Liaison Renorts
Prospect Hill Road Sidewalk Study—Ms Dunn is planning on speaking with Carl Valente to see if the
sidewalk study could be coordinated with the traffic mitigation plans for the Bndge School
