Soil Analyses & Contours
NARRAGANSETT series consists of nearly level to steep, deep, well drained soils on
glacial till plains and ground moraine. They formed on silt mantled glacial till.
Narragansett soils have friable silt loam or very fine sandy loam surface soil and subsoil
that have moderate permeability over friable to loose fine sandy loam to loamy coarse
sand substratum at 16 to 36 inches with moderately rapid or rapid permeability.
Narragansett soils have a very stony or extremely stony surface, except where stones
have been removed. Major limitations are related to slope and stoniness.
