: January 27, 2014, meeting Minutes -
Motion for GCC to back Rick’s Community Endowment of Lexington proposal -
approved
• ACROSS Lexington Trust Fund update: An honorarium as approved by the trust fund
trustees will be given to David Neal, the app designer, and another honorarium for the
map designer
• Spring walks: on Routes A, B, and maybe C
Rick is working with the Recreation Department on 4 walks - not necessarily
ACROSS routes, but may incorporate them
Can do other walks with CLC, specifically for ACROSS - to be arranged
There will also be walks during Bike Walk Bus Week in May
• Boston Greenbelt Walk: 30 miles - Greenroutes, Liveable Streets, Free Walkers,
Metropolitan Area Planning Council are all working together to arrange this walk.
May 17, 2014
Ring walk around Boston, from Malden to Riverside, , through
Lexington center. The Waltham Land Trust and other local organizations will be
involved with the Lexington area arrangements. The website is: BostonGreenbelt30
• Town Trails Signage: Conservation Stewards now have backing from the Conservation
Commission for developing and installing signage on Town properties trails.
• Updating ACROSS map: Mike has not heard back from Emily re mapping, hopefully in
a week or two.
• Community Endowment of Lexington has grant funding opportunity thatRick would
like to access to help develop app by David Neal for ACROSS Lexington. Several groups
together could apply for the funding as CEL likes collaborative projects. Some ideas are:
Historical Society, Citizens for Lexington Conservation, Bikeway Committee. There is
a March 15 deadline, so proposal will need to be done asap.
• Route C: Keith got out before the snow, presented a new suggested route. It is longer,
but uses crosswalks and gets users into Arlington Great Meadow. Discussion yielded
some alterations, but a general consensus was reached.
Emerson Gardens is private condo complex, so we’ll avoid that road.
Use Whipple to Locke to Fairlawn, which will make future access from Locke to
Whipple Hill simpler
Rick offered to talk to Board of Selectmen, Bike Committee, DPW, already planning
to update Lexington Farm Committee on 3/12
Keith will check with John Livsey regarding the boundaries at the Arlington Reservoir
Mike will check w/ Friends of Arlington Great Meadow
Go check it out!
• Next steps: Top on next months agenda will be a discussion of Routes D, E, F, etc -
location, length, feasibility, etc.
• Conservation Restriction DataBase: Rick will re-send the Dropbox info
