HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-10-03-HDC-min October 3, 2013 PUBLIC MEETING NOTICE HISTORIC DISTRICT COMMISSION Minutes of Thursday, October 3, 2013, Selectmen Meeting Room, Town Hall Building at 7:00PM Commissioners present: Chairman Joe Welch, Lynn Hopkins, Robert Warshawer, Daniel Griffin Associate Commissioners: Marilyn Fenollosa, Carl Oldenburg and Barbara Feldman Department Clerk: Linda Rainville FORMAL HEARINGS 7:00 PM 1775 Massachusetts Avenue: Rachael, Exchange 1, presented plans to replace Sign , in the Battle Green District. The approved sign will be 63” x 20”. The Committee voted to approve the signage as documented. All in favor. Certificate No. 2013C-55 7:10 PM 1775 Massachusetts Avenue: Rachael, Exchange 1 presented plans for 16 replacement windows. Windows will be new, all wood, double hung windows. The windows will be the same size as the existing windows. The trim will be painted same as existing trim. The Committee voted to approve the exterior architectural changes as documented. All in favor. Certificate No. 2013C-56 7:20 PM 755 Massachusetts Avenue: Joe Giamarco, representing Follen Church Society, presented plans to install twelve panel antennas at 2 centerline heights concealed within the existing 92’ above ground level church steeple together with related amplifiers, coaxial cables, fiber and other associated antenna equipment including remote radio heads, surge arrestor, cable trays, three small GPS antennas and conduits. And the associated electronic equipment installed inside an existing equipment room within the lower level of the church. The Committee voted to approve the exterior architectural changes as documented. All in favor. Certificate No. 2013C-57 7:30 PM 8 Marrett Road: James and Anne McLaughlin, presented plans to replace the front door with a wood window, single hung to match. Trim will be the same as others on the house. The Committee voted to approve the exterior architectural changes as documented. All in favor. Certificate No. 2013C-58 7:40 PM 1822 Massachusetts Avenue: Dave Deola of Image One Industries, representing Santander (Sovereign) presented plans to replace several signs as documented. The Committee voted to approve all except one sign. All in favor. Certificate No. 2013C-59 October 3, 2013 7:50 PM 1840 Massachusetts Avenue: Mitch Allen, representing TD Bank, presented plans to replace 25 windows. The new windows will be custom made wood windows with 16 pane (8 over 8) thermopane glass. The trim will be painted to match existing trim. The Committee voted to approve the exterior architectural changes as documented. All in favor. Certificate No. 2013C-60 CONTINUED HEARINGS 898 Massachusetts Avenue: Matt Thenen, reported that the demolition was complete. He presented some minor modifications to the windows on the lower part of the front of the house. Mr. Thenen also presented documentation of 2 large lanterns to be used by the front door. Also the paving material used for the front walk and patio will be Boston City Hall pavers. The front walk and patio will follow the same layout and dimensions originally presented. The Committee voted to approve the exterior architectural changes as documented. All in favor. Certificate No. 2013C-61 * Mr. David Kelland spoke to the Commission regarding concerns of some of the abutters regarding the height and pitch of the roof of the barn. The roofline will be same pitch and height as the front part of the house. 14 Tavern Lane: Ernest Rogers, presented plans regarding placement of an air conditioning unit. He also presented plans for putting crown molding on top of 3 windows and crown molding over door. He is also will place a small light above the side door. The Committee voted to approve the exterior architectural changes as documented. All in favor. Certificate No. 2013C-62 INFORMAL HEARINGS 1403 Massachusetts Avenue: , Nancy Sofen representing Munroe Center for the Arts, presented a picture of the Munroe Center for the Arts sign. She spoke to the Commission of the problem getting electricity out to the sign for a light. She will return with solar lighting samples. She also spoke to the Commission about reconsidering a split rail fence which will be surrounded by hydrangeas. 7A Merriam St: Reshma Katwa, presented plans for business sign. The sign will be made of sign-foam material. She will return with more details OTHER BUSINESS Minutes approved as written Meeting adjourned at 8:50 pm
