Suzie Barry convened the meeting at 8 pm. Patriots' Day 2014 Security matters. Committee members attended the security presentation prior to this meeting. Planning meeting. All stakeholders' meeting is scheduled for 9 am Monday, March 10, 2014 in the Selectmen's room. Applications for afternoon parade participation. • The following groups do not ask for compensation to participate. They were accepted by committee members for entry: James W. Flett with five trucks Youville Place van Children's Center of Lexington with two kiddie carts Wilson Farm float Operation Home Ties (portraits of the Massachusetts fallen) • Four compensated groups were accepted for participation: Lexington Minute Men Lexington Fire Department Honor Guard Shriners Clowns Shriners Minicars • Suzie e- mailed Bob Barber regarding his entry of military vehicles. There is nothing to report at this time. • Sondra Lucente contacted LL Bean about the boot. One boot is definitely not available, and the company is not certain about the availability of the second. • Suzie will make Patriots' Day job assignments in a few weeks. • Parade ambassadors. Linda Dixon reports that eleven volunteers have signed on so far for a total of five teams (teams comprise one middle school, three high school and one adult). Veterans' Breakfast and Veterans' Day 2014 • Dick Crogan is contacting Ryan Lennon in order to launch plans for the upcoming breakfast. • Where to hold the breakfast and setting a date need to be determined. Members discussed possible locations in both towns (i.e., First Church of Christ, Bedford; Armory, Lexington) since the breakfast became a joint effort with Bedford last year. Other Business • Suzie mentioned that Cary Hall will be closing for renovations sometime this summer, either June or July, for two years. Committee discussed alternate indoor locations to hold ceremonies when the weather is inclement. Some suggestions were Grace Chapel and National Heritage Museum. • The committee is still considering jackets in time for Patriots' Day. Sandy Podgorski will look for any made in America.
