HomeMy WebLinkAbout2013-07-23-SLC-min Town of Lexington Sustainable Lexington Committee Minutes of Meeting of July 23, 2013 A meeting of the Sustainable Lexington Committee (SLC) was held on July 23, 2013 at the Town Hall. A quorum of four was present. Members Present: Mark Sandeen, Chair Rick Reibstein, Todd Rhodes, Dan Voss Members Absent: Rick Abrams, Sarah Wilson Other Attendees: Toby Armstrong, Joe Pato, Sheryl Rosner, Greg Zerlow, Devina V. The meeting was called to order at 7:10 pm. Review of the Better Buildings program Review of visit to Next Step LivingÈs (NSL) facility in Boston (T. Armstrong and D. V.) M. Sandeen provided an update on the status of NSL Home Energy Assessments D. V. provided an update on changes to the SREC program à incentives are dropping by half at the end of the year. Commercial Program T. Rhodes provided an update on work with NSTAR and the TownÈs Economic Development group to promote free energy assessments for small businesses in town. Letters are scheduled to be sent to businesses beginning September 9, 2013. Solar Energy Task Force D. Voss identified that the task force is finalizing the draft of the RFP. Once it is released, it will required about eight weeks to receive bids. Climate Action Plan T. Armstrong and D. V. provided a review of the spreadsheet model that identifies the anticipated impact of different climate mitigation options on the TownÈs carbon emissions. Considering all current programs (Federal, State, Town) the model projects ~40% reduction in CO2 by 2030. Other plans by cities/towns have established a goal of 0 Net CO2 emissions by 2050.
