Spring 2014 Planting: Placing an Article in the Town Papers Offering Trees vs. DPW Decides Where to Plant Trees There was discussion but no vote. It was decided to do both, one model for setback trees, the other for street, park, cemetery and conservation land trees. 5. Tree species to order: Jim Wood raised the issue of which species to order for spring 2014. Chris Filadoro wants to plant 65 trees each in spring and fall to distribute the forestry staff work loads. The limited available species for fall planting was discussed. The need to inventory the tree nursery before an order for 2014 spring is placed was raised. John Frey, Nell Walker and Anne Senning will take this inventory and report to Jim Wood. Several homeowners have requested species for spring 2014 from a waiting list of setback trees begun in fall 2013. Jim Wood will look for these species. 6. List and mapping of newly planted trees: fall 2013: This process was reviewed. Chris Filadoro will provide a set of blown up maps to Joel Custance, Crew Chief Forestry Division so that he can place an ‘x’ where each tree that was planted.
