Valentine Luncheon at Senior Center :
This year we will be going to The Senior
Center on Mass Avenue, to serve lunch to our senior residents in town, on Tuesday,
Febraury 11th. We will meet at the front of the school by the flagpole at 11:30AM,
returning around 1:00. We have 14 that have volunteered, we can always use more of
you if available. This is a great opportunity to meet a great group of Lexingtonians.
Drivers who volunteered are Emilia, Jillian, Eva, and James M, We have 14 kids signed
up, please make sure you are there!
Here is the note that Doug received from the Staff – They are very excited that you all
will be there.
th
Thank you for organizing the 14 students to volunteer on Tuesday the 11. We will have
the students help us serve lunches to the tables and then spread out and sit at the tables to
eat with the seniors. I have noticed that the seniors love to talk to the kids at these
events. Please let me know if you need anything from our department. We are looking
forward to the lunch next month!
If did not sign up and are able to go, please join us!
Cotting School Visit:
Similar to last year, we will be collecting books to donate to the
Cotting School so students can catalog and sell them on Amazon as a job opportunity.
Michelson Shoes will be donating collection boxes. We will be decorating these boxes at
the next meeting. The collection boxes will be put in LHS, Sunoco, Arlex Oil, and
Michelson Shoes, To promote the book drive we will be advertising in the LHS
homeroom announcements, The Colonial Times, The Patch, The Minuteman, and The
Shopper. If you have any other ideas on advertising please bring them to the meeting.
Our plan is to visit the Cotting School in March to work on an activity with students
there. Karen Duprey is working on setting this up and will have an update at our
February Meeting.
Float Ideas:
We had many great ideas including LIFE the Board Game with an LYC
twist which seemed to be the most popular one. The next step is to make a sketch of the
float, along with ideas with detail. Please get together with a friend(s) in LYC, or
independently and bring a sketch and/or written ideas to our next meeting. We will need
to be able to leave meeting with a plan, parade is two meetings away! If you make a
sketch feel free to post it on the LYC Facebook page and bring it to the next meeting!
Our next meeting will be Thursday, February 13 at 7:00 pm Cary Estabrook Hall. Please
plan to attend we have a lot to accomplish for successful second half of LYC!!!!
Respectfully Submitted,
Janelle Franklin
