• Letter of Approval for Parker Meadow Accessibility Project - Approved
Current Business Review
:
• ACROSS Lexington update - Route B materials, a portion of which remain unused and
available for future routes, cost $1323. Rick was asked to back out the cost of these materials to
allow for a more accurate per mile cost to be reported at the December meeting.
• Route A sign replacement is in progress. We should revisit this in March to assess any
winter damage.
• Fluorescent/reflective tape will be places on posts that might be susceptible to snowplow
damage.
• Route C planning - Rick has sent a letter to Deb Mauger and the Select Board regarding
areas that need special permissions (LexFarm, Arlington Great Meadow, Lexington Christian
Academy, Locke Lane). Deb, Carl Valente and Karen Mullins are developing a protocol to
working with landowners in such situations. Hope this will be done for December meeting.
*Rick will send map of the proposed route - walk it if you can, and plan to comment next
meeting.
•Rick did a quick overview of his Nov. 3 presentation at Cary Library regarding the
benefits of a walkable community. He will give a variation of it for Lexington Community
Education on January 27. Thanks for pushing our agenda, Rick!
•South Lexington Transportation Map - Eileen and Rick met with Dave Kucharsky to
discuss the area encompassing Marrett Rd, Shade St, Spring St, Pleasant St, Walnut St. Hope to
get the Western Greenway trail crossing marked. Consultants are working with the information
and will have a presentation in the future. Other trail connections are in the works, including at
the Shire property, which is waiting on finalizing the CR agreement between Shire and the
Town, and also at 990 Waltham St adjacent to Brookhaven where a connecting trail will reach
Lot 1 and the Western Greenway.
Reports
:
• A working group has been formed to develop Parker Meadow as an Accessible site. The
committee approved delegating the drafting of a support letter for the Parker Meadow
Accessible Trail project to Keith as needed.
• West Lexington Greenway planning - we should consider route options for the segment
between Grove St and Bedford St.
• Metropolitan Area Planning Council is forming a Regional Greenroutes Coalition
working group. Rick is in contact.
• Bedford is creating a version of ACROSS. Eileen will send link. Aaron will be liaison.
New Business
:
• 2014 meeting schedule - we will continue to meet on the 4th Monday, 4:30-6pm
• Bike/Walk week - ACROSS map will be ready for that, funded by Conservation Dept.
• Lexington Community Education workshop on trails in Town may be held in the spring.
