While there wasn't organized discussion, some of the issues that were noted by those present were • Windows Natural light is desired for most activities and offices, and it would be advantageous to use rooms with particularly attractive windows, such as those in the mansion, for public activities rather than offices There were questions about adding windows in some areas • Fireplaces There were questions about being able to use the fireplaces that are in the mansion, and it was suggested that rooms with fireplaces be used for public activities rather than offices. • Basement under the Manston Ms Wilson pointed out how the floor in this area is several feet higher than the addition's basement, creating access challenges Without a ramp or lift, using this area is problematic • Security. There were concerns about security and questions about how staff will control access and use of the building • Office Space There were comments about the size of the offices, and questions about reducing the amount of space used for offices • Dedicated Spaces There were questions about dedicating lounging areas, for example, for senior citizens only Some areas in the mansion could lend themselves to intergenerational lounging areas. • Door Between Mansion and Addition Adding a door adjacent to the mansion stairs would improve flow • Historic Preservation It was noted that identifying the historic components that must be preserved is critical to the project. • Phase 2 Addition Ms Wilson identified the area behind the 39 Marren Road building that could be used for an addition. There could be a gymnasium and/or multi-purpose rooms. An access road was discussed. 2. Next Steps. Ms Wilson said that the next step is to finalize approximately where staff and activities will be located and then adjustments and details can be developed.
